I appplied for a new passport last week ( passport express ) and i should have it in 10 working days However i need to go to london on the 19th june and it will be very tight  if i will have it back or not.
Are driving licences still a valid form of ID on flights, i know Aer lingus will accept them but Ryanair says it will only accept them for domestic flight, is Ireland considered a domestic flight to the UK? Think it used to be.
There are a few already booked into standsted so i would prefer to be on thier flight with ryanair but it ifs too much of a risk i will book with aer lingus.

ryanair dont accept drivers license from belfast to london so you would be safer staying away from them, i know easyjet will accept drivers license but def noy ryanair.

Cheers,
might be safer with AL alright.
Trying to get through to Ryanair customer service but not holding out much hope!

A friend of mine was refused with Ryanair to London with a licence.

deffo not ryanair. Need a passport as they need the passport number for their boarding passes or something.
Easyjet will take just about anything.
Ryanair customer service, £1 per minute.

ryanair used to accept driving licences as ID from Dublin to england, however you could not use online check in as this required a passport

However there was a clause that you could apply for a refund of the airport check in fee if the reason for not checking in online was due to not having a passport.

Update from the ryanair website:
PLEASE NOTE – passengers making new bookings from the 20th May 2009 onwards will no longer be able to select to check-in at the airport and therefore will be unable to book flights and use their driving licence as photo-id.

From the 1st October 2009 driving licences will NO LONGER be an acceptable travel document on Ryanair flights
Down for Sam 2017 (Have already written of 2016!)

I'd be very confident that you will have your passport back before then.
You could have gone in person and got it in the same day.

I had a flight to Bristol last year and arrived in Dublin with the Driving Licence and wouldn't let me on the plane!

I'd say that was nothing to do with the form of ID you were displaying.

I know you won't want to leave it to chance but I really think you'll have the passport in time. Tough one though. Can you get the Ferry?

ludermor

Nah ill book through Aer Lingus, they have said a licence will do, would have been handy flying into stansted as the rest of the gang are flying there ( taxis and all that crap)

Cheers RMD it would have been ok but tight!

You dont legally need a passport to fly within the EC.  A spanish friend has a national ID card and travels all over the place on it. D/k about Ryanair tho.
