On one occasion many years when I was living close to my place place of work I couldn't take it any more and told the lads I had a 2 hour telecon, so I lifted my lab book and slipped home to bed for a couple of hours before returning refreshed  ;)

That "place of work" is close to going bust Tony, no wonder with a boy like you in it.
One of the fellas used to lock himself in one of the meeting rooms every Friday for an hours kip after a particularly heavy session. The reason I know is that on one occasion he forgot to lock the door and a few managers walked in on him!

under the bar

If you drank only Czech beer and not Bud, Stella, Carlsberg and other muck you wouldn't have that problem.   Have polished off 8-12 Pilsner Urquell the night before on many occasions and come to work with a clear head.  A bit groggy and thirsty yes but have never experienced a hangover with it.
