Quote from: Rebel84 on September 08, 2024, 08:09:10 PMDungannon were comfortable as half time approached and a 1-5 to 0-2 scoreline would have been more reflective but that 1-1 at the end of the half gave Donaghmore renewed hope and it was nip tuck the whole way through the second half. Paul Donaghy was well marked from play by the Donaghmore No.3 but he showed great composure for the penalty as a miss would have left Donaghmore only needing to go for a point on that last attack. Overall it was a very good game and you'd feel that Donaghmore are about 2 years away from being proper contenders.

Donaghmore 2 years away from being contenders? Never have & never will. Rarely get beyond 1st round of championship. Too nice. Youth success guarantees nothing. Decent league side - that's all. The people of Donaghmore are more interested in planting flowers and winning bloom competitions. Says it all really.

Class.

First thing you need to win a championship in Tyrone is balls. Coalisland and Clonoe always had this. Teams like Donaghmore (Tory lovers) and Edendork (SDLP lovers) never will or never had this.

Jablue

Also heard Donaghmore had in their changing rooms "All Ireland club Champions by 2030". Should they drop down to Intermediate to try win a championship match? Just a suggestion.

time ticking away

This craic that this club will never win a championship or that team will never win a championship is absolute rubbish.
Players win games. Maghera had that accusation levelled against them for years, Dromore also. If the players are there and they are committed enough, success will follow. I think Donaghmore have a better chance than most over the next ten years
canavan is the man canavan is the man ee aye adi ooh.......

Will Drumquin have settled for the league or will they have the same bite as Kileeshil this weekend ?

WesternT

Hearing reports from dromore that ricey has walked away, wasn't happy with the players commitment.

Onthe40

Donaghmore had what 7 on the u20 all Ireland winning panel, something seriously wrong if they don't become contenders

Both of these teams could compete in intermediate given the standard of some of the games at the weekend. Not too many teams have been able to do double league and championship over the last few years.

Drumquin slight favourites. Expect their manager will spend more time on the field than his players.

Trillick players had "B2B" wrote on their wrists for the Eglish game.

Errigal had 6/7/8 county players on their starting 15 team for 5/6 years and only won 1 O'Neill cup.

Does Carrickmore have enough about them to beat two of the big three (Errigal then Trillick or Dungannon) to win it?

They definitely do. Clonoe may give Errigal a game if Errigal play anything like they did at the weekend they could be turfed out before the semi.

Massive if true, few rumours going around that Malachy O'Rourke has requested the county board to get the home games to be played in Dungannon this year to accommodate Paul Donaghy. Wages issue has already been cleared up - this is the only thing holding the deal up, apparently.
