Im guessing that the lack of response from Clonoe folk today to my earlier question means that Collie Doris is suspended. I heard it first from a Coalisland man so I passed no remarks but it has surfaced a few times in Carmen today. It would be an awful shame for the lad.

Would be a big loss to clonoe if he is. He had a massive game on Sunday but was clear from early on he had serious issues with mchugh who was refereeing and was only going to be a matter of time before he got a second yellow. He should have been taken off before he was lined.

Hopefully he is avilable for Sunday as he is a top quality player and has the knack of hanging in the air when going up for a ball which is great to watch

Div 1 reserve championship is this weekend. Someone posted the fixtures a few pages back. Division 2 and 3 is rumoured to be 19th of October. That will probably only be confirmed on the week of the match.

Norf Tyrone- I'm sure most clubs in D3 are in the same situation as yourselves when it comes to fielding the reserve team. Every team would of had to 'burn' players chasing the game.

Perhaps Clonoe may walk it but a team that gets to a county final deserves some respect. I would go as far as to say that its the most dangerous forward line I have seen coming out of Carrickmore. There is frightening pace it it. There was an impressive list of subs who came on last week, add Gaby who had a knock and a returning Johnny Monroe and Paul Hughes and its a strong strong squad

Wee Roddy I can assure the Carmen have our respect, we played Carmen in the championship 2011 and it was a draw followed by a draw and extra time. Some crap and wind up merchants being spouted here. This is a 50/50 game, Carmen haven't gotten 15 titles by rolling over. We have never had anything easy from them, and Sunday will be no different,a tough battle. Carrickmore are a championship team, end of.

Knockyourmuckerin.  You would need to have a word with your manager if that is the case. He says that his only worry is complacency.
He is aleady asking around here about the other hures from Tyrone that he is playing in the Ulster Club.

Tone your not bad at stirring the pot

Looking forward to the Tyrone final on Sunday as we will be playing the winners the following Sunday in Ulster. I presume if it finishes a draw extra time will be played.

Looks like Clonoe are warm favourites, but surely Carrickmore will be hungry for this one, not having won it since 2005.

When was the last time a team won 3 in a row Tyrone senior C'ships?

It will have to be ET if its level at the end of normal time due to the Ulster Club being the next week.

It was the same scenario in 2008 when Clonoe beat Dromore AET and had to play St Eunan's a week later.  In 2011 Dromore had to play Ballinderry a week after winning the county title, when they beat Clonoe in the final.

I think Clonoe will win next week but it will be a mighty battle with Carmen who are a championship team but regardless of who wins its ludicrous the Tyrone CCC have put the winner in that position and its a massive advantage for Ballinderry.

The fixtures in Tyrone this year have been a complete mess.

People can criticise the county board for not having the leagues finished and I also believe its bizarre to hold up the reserve league and championship due to county football but I think they're in a difficult position when comes to the senior championship.

The clubs voted not to play games back in may and personally I'm not sure it's the right call. I think 2 rounds should be played earlier in the year and it would cut back on the rush now. The fixtures this year also weren't helped by the extended run in the national league and through the backdoor.

A better fixture list needs to be put in place though. The reserve championship and league should continue throughout the summer and be finished much earlier. Better communication also needs to be given allowing managers and players to know where they stand. The leagues could be started a few weeks earlier and one or 2 double rounds played to ensure the season finishes earlier.

I can criticise them for not playing the club championship over one wekend instead of two, so they could take as much money from the public as possible, to the deteriment of the clubs at a time when they knew they were fixed for time to play off the championship. Until you understand that playing a championship game in May/June is to the deteriment of 98% percent of the players and 100 % of the clubs you will never get it!!!! It means 50% (thats the numbers of clubs out of championship football early doors) of the clubs will loose their young players to the states etc and how that impacts negitively on player and club development

Out of all the things the county board have been criticised for I don't agree with your points. The championship games are very important for promoting the local club scene and the fact they aren't played at the same time leads to greater exposure and more people going to the games. Therefore spreading the first round games over 2 weekends makes sense. It also benefits the county board financially but I'm sure they need money to operate and promote the games in the county. The county board would be doing a bad job if they weren't trying to raise funds to keep it operating.

As I said I think a round or 2 before the summer would be a good thing. You can point out to the American issue but the boys are going seem to go anyway. If a round or 2 of championship fixtures were played in May/June and then it was agreed no more to September it would mean they could go to America and not miss the championship. They would miss 3 or 4 league games but that is unlikely to keep them at home.

I also think that the county players need to be available for the majority of league to create fairness and ensure quality. I'm sure attendances drop for the starred games currently. 5 of these to me would be about the most you could do.

I think most people are in agreement that communication is a big problem in relation to the fixtures. Players and management teams need to have a much better idea of the fixtures and weekends that are definitely free. I think that as soon as Tyrone's league fixtures come out they should be studied and see if its possible to get the leagues started earlier. Teams are training from February anyway so why not start playing the games from the middle of March depending on the NFL fixtures.

Also as I said previously I think they should continue to run the reserve league and championsips and get it wrapped up earlier in the year.

I certainly haven't heard of this. He got two yellows so no automatic suspension. Can't be sure but don't recall him getting two yellows at any other stage this year.

Very strong rumors coming out of Clonoe this morning that Doris got confirmation of his suspension from the county board yesterday and that he will miss the game. That is some loss to Clonoe.

Fancied Carrickmore when I seen them play Cookstown in the championship

I think the big question here is will he miss the Ballinderry game??  :-\

Wee Roddy

KYMI your on a windup now. I hope Doris doesn't miss out and its not true. He may need the sharpness against a strong Ballinderry team

Knock Yer Mucker In

Not on the windup, just posting what I was told this morning, seems common knowledge down here.

As I said I fancied Carrickmore on seeing them play Cookstown, apart from ourselves of course. But if the rumors are true it is a huge loss.

Wee Roddy

If true these things can galvanise a team. I doubt if its true though. Its a stupid rule anyway

county derry post

Ten of Ulster's foremost GAA personalities will be on hand this Saturday as the 'Superstars Challenge' is officially launched at Bellaghy GAA (11am).

Based on the International Superstars idea, the event is an all-around sports competition that pits elite athletes from different sports against one another in a series of athletic events resembling a decathlon.

With the Challenge due to take place on 28th December, all proceeds raised will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care – an organisation playing a vital role in supporting cancer sufferers and their families.

The organisers believe the event – a first for the GAA – will capture the imagination of the general public building up to the unique December show-down.

Former Derry footballer and member of the organising committee, Ronan Rocks, explained what the next few months will involve:

"We will have our launch this weekend but that's only the start.

"The key fundraising campaign centres around ten star GAA players from throughout Ulster participating in a series of events throughout the day. We feel this event will appeal to the wider community. To have ten high profile sporting stars competing against each other in a unique event will obtain the much needed funds as well as generate a vast awareness of the event and associated sponsors throughout."

Already ahead of the game, organisers have set up Twitter (@SuperSCh) and Facebook pages to keep people informed and up to date with latest developments.

Ten local companies have already agreed sponsorship of the participants and it is hoped that the wider public will contribute further to what will be a unique event this December.

The 2013 event will also seek to raise awareness for another worthy cause, as Rocks explains:

"We have also decided that through this campaign we want to continue to raise awareness for the "Opt for Life" campaign and we are delighted to have Joe Brolly, who is a strong campaigner for this worthy cause, within our fundraising committee." explained Rocks.

Further event information and background

Athletes can compete in up to eight of the ten events, with no-one generally allowed to take part in their own sport, although some handicapping rules do apply.

Competitors participate in a range of different sporting events, including a 100m sprint, 800 metres (0.50 mi) run, obstacle course or Steeplechase, weightlifting, football, rowing, tennis, basketball, bicycle racing, shooting and swimming. The sports used have varied over time and between the various international competitions.

Points are awarded for the position in which the competitor places in each event. The competitor with the most points at the end of all the events is declared the champion.

How would you like to see Ulster GAA's Finest compete in such an event???

Could Ryan Bell beat Marty McGrath in a full length of the field sprint???

Could Aaron Kernan do more press ups than Michael McCann???

Could Owen Mulligan bench press more than Kieran Hughes???

Just some of the examples that only a Superstars challenge could bring!

Competitors:

(1) Ryan Bell (Derry) Nicholl Oils
(2) Owen Mulligan (Tyrone) O'Neills
(3) Michael McCann (Antrim) Creagh Concrete
(4) Eamon McGee (Donegal) H & A Mechanical
(5) Darren Hughes (Monaghan) Bannvale Credit Union
(6) Kevin McKernan (Down) Mac Trailers
(7) Marty McGrath (Fermanagh) DPD
(8) Marty Dunne (Cavan) Kingspan
(9) Aaron Kernan (Armagh) SDC
(10) Fergal Doherty (Bellaghy) Specialist Joinery Fittings

Wee Roddy

What your predictions for SFC final lads? I hear Martin Sludden has been appointed the referee as well.

rrhf

I suspect a draw but Im calling Clonoe by 1 -3.

stringbean

I'll probably get shouted down for this but I have played the old system of 4 x 12 team leagues (a 1A and 1B, Div 2 and Div 3) with playing each team twice, one with and one without county players. I felt this worked well as gave lads football all summer and keep them interested. It would also be a lot easier to forward plan the fixtures. Furthermore it assisted teams like the Moy who could still compete in Senior championship. I feel a return to this system would be beneficial and play the preliminary round and first round of championship in May/June.

However couldn't see this happening as it would weaken the teams sent to Junior and Reserve club championships.
