Quote from: tiempo on May 29, 2025, 08:55:31 AMBe interesting to see if the slander usually dished out pre/mid championship to Errigal Dungannon and others passes over to Carmen this year or do they get another bye ball. For some reason their lack of ONeill cup success the last 20 years is completely overlooked or has it just become unremarkable?
Carrickmore are down potentially 12/15 players starting this season based on emigration, summer in the states, long term injuries, county commitments and hurling commitments. Hard to know what shape they will be in come September.

Hearing that story with quite a number of clubs at the minute. Why is it that USA seems to be the 'done thing'  nowadays and emigration has hit quite a few clubs hard - I think every club will feel the pinch to some degree over the next 18/24 months but some worse than others.
As regards injuries - that hits everybody unfortunately in some capacity
As regards hurling - that is a tough one as probably only 4/5/6 clubs really affected by hurling dual players

Dungannons ship has sailed. 5 out of 6 defenders that started championship unavailable due to emigration and injury. One COVID championship and a league all to be shown for their 'golden generation'.

As a Tyrone man watching us win Sam in 2021 and a Liverpool fan watching them win the league in 2020, there was nothing as satisfying witnessing rival supporters losing their heads so much they generally use terms like Covid title.

Dungannon were a division 3 team when this generation of players played underage. I'd imagine if you told any div 3 club that their golden generation coming through would go on to win an O'neill cup and div 1 league they'd be fairly happy.

Liverpool winning a league by being the most consistent team over a year is a bit different to Dungannon winning a final on penalties, which has since been abolished. It is a covid title whether you care to admit it or not.

It hardly matters that Dungannon were division 3 when their best player played for a different club?

Do us a favour there and watch back the last 5 championship seasons counting up what would have been 2 pointers and tell us who the real winners were, buzzing to find out

History books and names on cup will record O'Neill Cup winners 2020 - Dungannon Clarkes.
Same as Dublin win the All Ireland in 2020 and Liverpool win Champions league final in 2005.. is no such thing as 'Covid' winners except among begrudgers or penalty kick winners...

I'd say its unremarkable - and won't be any closer this year. Loughmacrory will nip one before them imo the way it's looking. They're still hard put away in a championship game but delivering what you need for x4 straight games is beyond Carmen at the minute I reckon. They could still prove me wrong, not a club you look forward to pulling out of the hat.

Great result from Killyclogher considering the amount of players they are missing. Perhaps a dark horse for championship with all their players back and Sparky back to his best?

GAAtrojan

Massive win for Moortown, derrylaughlin had an eye opener in the 2nd half. Beragh off to a flyer maybe dark horses for division 2.

Someone turn the lights on in Aghayarn, they will be seeing black for a while with that result.

Same old Glennelly just aren't good enough when it comes to top 2 or 3 teams.

Grace Murphy

Div 2 belongs to the Magpies some result away to the Yarn sir.

Beragh definitely do better than last year they nearly got relegated expect them to be in promotion shake up after being there the year before.

2ndstringsub

After the 1st round how did everyone find the first ACL game with the new rules. Anything happening we arent seeing on tv at the county games? are referees coping ok or is there rules being missed/forgotten/ignored?

You know the oul craic. Next time Tyrone play Drumquin and need a free taker, I'm sure Malachy will give Cathal a shout
