Gortin have had night and day seasons in 2023 and 2024, last year stayed up on 7 points (which would get relegated to Junior this year) and this year could win the league. The reality is that they are somewhere in between and would really struggle if they ended up in Division 1.

Everyone in the county though wants to see the Ardboe v Coalisland relegation playoff but both those teams will find a way to get out of it and we will be left with Pomeroy v Clonoe.

Where does that leave us regarding championship

I think you are right. The gap is wider than ever between division 1 & 2. I don't see any current Div 2 team getting promoted this year holding their place in Division 1 the following year, they'll be straight back.

Ah but teams go up and surprise you, look at Moortown and Greencastle.
Pomeroy were no big shakes when they were div 2 either.and look at them now.
That being said, it's not often that in D2 that you don't have a stand out candidate. It makes for an exciting league and championship. I'd argue that D2 league is the one of the most interesting and competitive around. Anyone can beat anyone on their day which makes for great viewing

Gortin and Moy on the final day will decide the league

Moy, Greencastle, Moortown and Derrylaughan have proven they can go to Division 1 and win games and survive. Likewise Eglish showed this last year, Pomeroy this year. Clonoe in intermediate last year showed how "wide" this gap is when they didn't win an Intermediate double. Likewise I don't think Ardboe, Coalisland, Clonoe or Edendork win an Intermediate Double next year.

Kicking the can down the road if they both manage to pull of the great escape. Closer to an Intermediate Championship than a Senior Championship.

Looks like a nasty injury in Clonoe v Coalisland reserve game. Video is doing the rounds. Player had no intent of going for the ball.

Wouldn't be the 1st time Clonoe hospitalised a player with a dirty hit. Won't be the last unfortunately

More of an unfortunate collision than a dirty hit but sure whatever you think yourself. Im sure you were at the game and had a good view. It was a nasty injury and hope he recovers ok from it.

Didn't look to be much attempt to play the ball lol

In all honesty I think you are stretching there calling it an 'unfortunate collision'. I don't think there is much defending you can do of that incident whether you were at the match or not.

Who had the 100/1 accumulator for division 2 tonight, some upsets

No one interested in winning that Intermediate League. Everyone trying their best to get away from it. Aghyaran look most likely from this juncture.

We would settle for Clonoe Coalisland. Bumper crowd.

Easttyrone23

We surely have the most competitive and entertaining league football in Ireland. With 3 games to go in both div 1 and 2 we have between 6-8 teams fighting at both ends of the tables for league title/promotion/relegation.

I understand we are restricted with time to get the league wrapped up but could you imagine games being fixed for different times and days like they would be for the championship, the sort of bumper crowds we would be getting at some of these fixtures, which Would also give clubs extra revenue at the gates.
