My Internet Explorer keeps crashing,or more actually freezes quite regularly, which results in me getting messages on the screen saying Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close..
I tried using Firefox but the same thing happened only but not anywhere near as often.

I have also noticed by broadband has gotten slower lately, plus like in cases when I go to post a message here it won't post and instead bring me to a page saying This link seems to be broken or another thats says Network Timeout along with someother info, but when I then press Refresh I'm brought back to the page where I was typing the message and when I press post it works fine..This happens a few dozens times a day..
Even trying to post this message has taken me four or fives times of pressing post then having to refresh the page.
Any ideas on what might be wrong? Is it my laptop thats fucked or should I be getting on to NTL?
I have loads of space on my laptop as I cleared alot of it the other day as I thought that might be the problem, but it didn't seem to help..

Download malwarebytes from www.malwarebytes.org  There is a free version which whilst it doesn't offer realtime protection if you manually scan your PC it will remove any spyware/adware that most virus scanners aren't good at picking up.  Do the full system can, the quick scan misses too much.

If you are still having crashes you could try resetting your browser to its original settings.  This will remove any funky toolbars and other add-ins which could cause your browser to crash.  To reset IE, from the Tools menu select Internet Options, Click the Advanced Tab, at the bottom click Reset.  Follow the instructions, close IE and open it again.

I use Firefox as my browser, in the last 2 days the RTE webpage does not load correctly. When I use IE as the browser it loads in the correct manner, I just updated  Skype to 4.0 version, I am wondering is this affecting the way some of my pages are loading on to the computer. Any idea??

FireFox version 3.x should be Ok for nearly all websites, although when streaming TV on the RTE website I think its insisted that you use Internet Explorer instead. I think thats just an RTE thing because streaming normally works fine with FireFox.

But Internet Explorer 6 is a piece of shit. It is obsolete and dangerous, so you should get rid fast because it
a) endangers your computer and
b) isn't even working right

Internet Explorer 7 was an improvement because they started from scratch when developing it. It has better support for Ajax too.
Internet Explorer 8 is still in Beta versions but will be another improvement on 7. As for Google Chrome, stay away for the time being.

I had a similar problem with NTL. I contacted them and they changed the wireless router. This seems to have done the trick so far.

For some reason every now and then a problem appears with my internet.

I am unable to access most webpages with the exception of google, paddypower.com, dcu mail & wikipedia. It happened today and I changed browser but to no avail. When I tried accessing any other page I got the usual "Internet Explorer cannot display this page" page or "link appears to be broken" depending on browser. I restarted the computer twice and this didn't help.. Yet out of the blue it started working for all webpages. I use vodafone mobile broadband..

Does anyone have any idea why this is? Or have a solution to prevent this happening again?? Cheers

Scan your machine with MalwareBytes and Spybot Search & Destroy.  It could have been a temporary problem Vodafone were having but I am not sure how reliable/unreliable their service is.

Could also be that your anti virus is downloading updates in the background taking up all your broadband width. Next time it happens do a ctr alt delete and go into task manager processes. Sort by process size and post the top 3/4 processes and we'll see if anything odd is there.
