Can't agree with you Moysider on Conroy and Campbell. The only top class forward we've had at under 21 level from 2004 to 2008 was Pearse Hanley. The other two lads aren't up to senior level in my opinion, for varying reasons.

Zulu you're assessment is right. We've no chance against Kerry, outside chance against Tyrone, some chance against Cork, Dublin, Derry or Galway and Monaghan as well, but wouldn't be favourites. We'd be favourites against Kildare, Armagh, Meath but by no means certainties.

Still can't agree with O'Mahony selecting McLoughlin and O'Shea, particularly with the former having injury concerns too.
Mayo for Sam! Just don't ask me for a year

Has anyone saw a list of Tyrone subs for Sunday? I take it Stephen O'Neill isnt on the bench? The Tyrone website used to be good with this kind of information but have noticed towards the end of the league it has been slower to put up the team and I dont see this weeks on it at all.

havn't seen the subs yet but would be surprised if stevie isn't a sub

Yeah. Hanley. But I was thinking more along the lines of a Cooper, Freeman,Meehan, O Neill, Bradley type. When have we ever had that type? Joe McGrath s star burned bright and briefly but that was 30 years ago. He was the best predator Mayo forward I ve seen as I ve no recollection really of likes of Corcoran and McGee.  Ballaghadereen played Hanley at 6 this year. Hard to see the players I ve mentioned being asked to do that when they could win a game on their own with any decent feed. I thought Conroy and Campbell had the football ability to be senior footballers. Other things may have got in the way.

I can t see the U21s being started either.

The flame still burns

Family guy

Tyrone to win by 4 with cavanagh to bury one into the net, mark my words

ONeill

If it's true that Brian McGuigan and Mugsy are missing we might struggle a little.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

DESPITE not playing inter-county football last year, Ciaran McDonald could still feature in Mayo's 2009 championship squad.

There was intense speculation that the Crossmolina man would play some role in last weekend's challenge against Offaly despite having not played on the team since 2007.

In the end, long-serving stars like David Heaney, Aidan Higgins and James Nallen all returned to competitive action with the side but McDonald wasn't there. However, he has not yet been ruled out of their plans -- although time is fast running out for the veteran centre-forward.

"Three lads came back last weekend, they played well and they enjoyed it," manager John O'Mahony said. "But we are still involved in a league campaign and we will not be turning our attention to the championship until after that competition ends. I would imagine we will sit down the week after the league is over and pick our squad for the championship. Until then we won't be thinking about it.

"This is the time of year when managers look at what they have and make a decision. For the moment, we have the three lads back and Keith Higgins is due home from Australia soon. That's all we know right now."

It's understood that contact was made with McDonald recently to see if he would be available for the game against Offaly. But it remains to be seen whether he is ready to commit himself. He turns 34 this year and made his debut 15 years ago.

Any truth to this boys?

There can't be, can there? Right on one level, wrong on so many others.

Just saw that in the indo . Would be very surprised if he was asked back . He did not play with the club last week and has been carrying a few knocks this year . He is a year older and has not started an inter county game since 2006 so why would o mahony want him this year ? What has changed ? Also if he wanted him back cant imagine o mahony till now before trying to make contact with him. Speculation i ' d say .Any way beautifull day here in mayo so enjoy the match
