Apparently they've scheduled a call between the two of them today. To be a fly on the wall for that... No doubt they'll release a statement saying all is amicable and a lot of deleted posts on social media to follow.

Once upon a time, you'd think that definitely.  Now, however, you'd wonder is this all orchestrated or choreographed, what's the endgame for either side, is it to manipulate markets, or is it deflection from Israel or Russia, and who is steering all this,  and to where?
And if it is a genuine spat, two egos of that scale, you'd imagine there'd be a fair bit of collateral damage along the way.
Nothing really makes sense anymore,  and you'd be worse for trying to make sense of it all!!

Yes you would expect but even if there are sensible whispers, they still need to be decoded in the brain. So that's a dice roll on both sides. We've seen how very simple phots lately have been interpreted and once he goes with something, his handlers are clearly afraid to correct him no matter how absurd. Plus the propensity for both of them at crazy hours in the morning to take to social media like a sailor on leave. How do you control that?

The ability to articulate your position respectfully and intelligently has left US politics. The art of diplomacy is dead over there. It's been taken over by a sort of Wall Street trading floor bravado. Bullying and shouting loudest wins. And social media is the perfect medium to get the simple message to your mob.

What can you do but laugh and enjoy the popcorn.

Let's try playground bullies who happen to wield enormous power and influence that they like to use against those that are weaker than them. There isn't a scintilla of courage or bravery or integrity to be found, most pronouncedly on Trump's side.

The FT columnist label TACO ("Trump always chickens out" - a reference to his repeated back-downs on tariffs) is much more fitting.

And not just on tariffs. Putin and his regime are openly mocking him now, even as Trump continues to defend his "friend" Putin's butchery.
