Amazing the parallels between Trumpism and his acolytes in the US and the fantasy of Brexitism in the UK.

If Republicans hold the Senate, does that mean they can green light any trade deals with Britain?

Probably yeah but there would be a trade deal either way... also the protection of the GFaA would still be a thing and Biden could veto if he wasn't happy it's not being observed.

No.  Both senate and House of Representatives must agree on trade deals. So, unless the Reps take the House too, this isn't on.

They won't take it, and leader of the house Nancy Pelosi has said to Boris forget about a trade deal if you break the GFA.

Race tightening in Arizona with every batch, state definitely still in play. CNN reports that if the final votes have the same proportion as recent batches then Trump will overtake Biden. But no guarantee of that of course.

I'm still sceptical about Nevada predictions.

I see that if AZ and Nevada turn to Trump and Biden overtakes in Georgia (on course but also far from guaranteed), with everything else staying the same, then it would be 269-269 !

Big If on Trump holding PA. It doesn't look likely he will.

What's this shít about news networks "calling it" in certain states?

Is this just them trying to get the jump on their competitors or what?

QuoteTrump supporters chanting 'Count the votes!' in Arizona and 'Stop the count!' in Michigan sums it all up perfectly. It's the most obvious manifestation of his regime's successful assault on objective truth, waved through by much of the media on both sides of the Atlantic.

It's the American way. Typically the votes the come late (military and other overseas) and when enough credible sources call it one way the losing candidate concedes long before the final vote is counted.

It's very clear that on their behaviour post election one of the candidates has been presidential and one has fallen a long way short.

It's also very clear that one of the teams is behaving in a principled manner and one in very much an unprincipled manner.

It's always that way.

They all have teams of pollsters working on it, analyzing what's been counted and what is still to count. Obviously that can lead to some calling a state while others aren't ready to call it. The campaigns have their own teams as well. So while a network might call a race, that doesn't mean the campaigns have to accept that call.

Official certification by the states takes a few days or even weeks, if there are still small numbers of uncounted mail-in votes or whatever (e.g. sometimes military votes are given extra time to be received).

Morning all.

There are now armed Trump protestors outside an Arizona count centre. Isn't this simply wonderful? USA! USA! USA!
They aren't protestors

They have nothing legitimate to protest about

They're fascists trying to terrify those who are trying to carry out democracy

Foxnews have gone way out on a limb calling Arizona the night before last!! Polls are tightening in Trump's favour and they're actually confident about catching Biden there. It will be interesting to see how it goes.

Georgia looks like it could be a recount and Pennsylvania is looking like Biden unless Trump can get a few thousand ballots thrown out!

Georgia very much in play again for Biden. About 400k still to be counted, Trump's lead down to 68k.

The Atlanta counties have some votes to be counted and an lot more people there than some of the other counties. Some of the Atlanta counties are 80%+ for Biden, hence the he is slight favourite to win Georgia.

Kayleigh McEnany on Fox news now, the very definition of a blonde bimbo.

Is she related to Banty?
Kayleigh's dad is a roofer by trade, no relation to Seamus who's a spoofer by trade.

Waiting days or weeks for the officiant certification isn't good for ratings. On the night calls with dramatic war like music and graphics is.

On the face of it, most counties in Arizona seem to still have some votes to count, so a big change in proportion doesn't seem as likely as elsewhere. I suppose Trump could win, if everything went right for him.

As for calling it, there comes a time when the result is obvious, even if there are a few % of votes still to be counted.
