GOP Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina is busted for insider trading:

FBI serves warrant on senator in investigation of stock sales linked to coronavirus.

The conservative approach to this crisis has been beneath contempt. Deny that there's a problem, keep telling people it's safe to go to work to prop up the economy for as long as you can, but behind closed doors do as much shorting and dumping as you can based on the insider information you're getting as a little 'perk' from your job. And to hell with the people who die in vast numbers.

Bundle of thieving, murdering criminals, the whole bloody lot of them.

The evil death cult that is today's GOP will not be remembered kindly by history.

And before Whitey comes back with the usual "one side is as bad as the other" BS:

Quoth the LA Times:

"To obtain a search warrant, federal agents and prosecutors must persuade a judge they have probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. The law enforcement official said the Justice Department is examining Burr's communications with his broker.

Such a warrant being served on a sitting U.S. senator would require approval from the highest ranks of the Justice Department and is a step that would not be taken lightly. Kerri Kupec, a Justice Department spokeswoman, declined to comment."

UK Times today, behind a paywall unfortunately. I bought the paper this morning and read the article, interesting article from @gerardtbaker.

'Evidence is growing that his administration bent the rules to undermine Trump's incoming team over Russian collusion'.

Why do you think he was on the Senate Intelligence Committee in the first place? He was running to Trump telling him what Mueller was investigating so Trump would know what to hide.

Republicans don't see Coronavirus as a crisis at all. That would imply a measure of good faith, which doesn't exist with the vast majority of Republicans. They see it as an opportunity to get even more rich than they already are.

Steve Schmidt is a Republican who worked for Bush and McCain, he left the party in 2018 because he saw what Trump had turned it into (though before 2016 it was already a long, long way down the road to being what it is now) - that said, I don't agree with him here about Trump's handling of the Coronavirus being "inept" - because again, ineptness would imply some small measure of good faith on the part of Trump  - which plainly doesn't exist - Trump has handled Coronavirus the only way he wants to or knows how - like a criminal psychopath with zero regard for humanity.

Trump is waging an all out war on truth and reality.  It is fundamental to his re-election strategy. Obamagate is a lie. Nothing more. Nothing less. When news organizations try and explicate the lie as opposed to eviscerating it they become instruments in a cynical manipulation

and even complicit in the lie itself. Soon, 40 percent of the country will believe Obamagate is the worst scandal in American history. All of this is happening as the most corrupt administration in American history is assaulting the rule of law, claiming unlimited executive

Power at the Supreme Court , suggesting a US Presidential election may need to be postponed and incompetently and ineptly responding to one of the greatest crisis in US History. That is the story. That is reality. Pretending Trump's lies, smears accusations and nonsense should

Be covered equally in the name of fairness is a desecration of the concept of journalistic ethics.

Screenexile, you don't help your case by posting obviously fake memes. Fox News and Fox Business are biased but they would never put out something like that.

Oh wait, here is the segment on his show

Everybody should hate Trump and the Republicans, they're kleptocrats, racists, misogynists, science deniers and criminal scum.

That's the long and short of it. Trump is manifestly a terrible president and a criminal sc**bag who is out to take down the US from the inside. He should be in prison.

If you don't hate Trump and the Republicans you've either been living under a rock for years or you agree with fascism.

There's no both sidesing this. Democrats have generally been a consistent disappointment and are far too often gutless and are are far too often pushed around. Republicans are a kleptocratic death cult who are a mortal danger to society and to humanity.

If it's a choice between the two, and it is, I'll take the former over the latter every single time, thanks, because Democrats are at least open to reason, are generally reasonably competent, and offer some small hope for at least a moderate form of progressive change. Therefore they are the only hope at all for progressive change in the US - and what happens in the US affects the world.

America is already completely on its knees. Four more years of Trump will finish it off.

If I were a Trump supporter I would be delighted at your recent postings

Completely unhinged with no substance
