OK Foxy, you are a great man for picking out the less common sins of the center while you ignore the great snow job that Fox et all have done selling working people that tax cuts for the wealthy will create their next job. The constant drumbeat from the right on how "trickle down" economics is the true path to working people's wage increases when there is no evidence to support this. Fox et all skew the evidence, constantly misinform and mix in a wee bit of racism to convince poor white folks that not taxing wealthy people is good for them. That's a very sobering and disturbing read. Quinn's administration was appalling. I am equally opposed to corruption, incompetence and malfeasance. Quinn's administration was patently wrong but thank god not the way most of our State Governments are run. Also, It particularly disturbs me that Irish names appear all too frequently when stuff like this is occurs.
However you are missing the point. This country built the greatest engine for working class upward mobility on the back of a progressive tax system and intelligent infrastructure spending between the mid 1930's up to the Reagan administration. When Reagan introduced trickle down economics and started the starvation of infrastructure development, the wealthy still got richer but the working class started getting poorer. 
In intervening years from FDR's new deal until Reagan, wealthy people paid their taxes and got wealthier because back then; like Warren Buffett, they understood that paying people a decent wage and investing in the Country meant increased demand for the goods and services they were selling. The pie got bigger, Ergo they made more money and paid more taxes. Everybody did well. Regan changed all of that .. he convinced enough working people with a toxic mix of racism and the fantasy that they were all going to be taxed to death when they became millionaires; that Government was bad and paying taxes was even worse. Check the economic metrics for the US, 1935 to 1980 and compare to the same metrics from 1980 to date and you will see the stark difference in income growth for the working class.
So tell all your friends to vote for and support competent government officials who will invest their tax dollars in efficient growth oriented education, science and infrastructure.

The point that you are missing is that in predominantly Democratic states the amount of waste and corruption is simply frightening.  So when conservatives like me baulk at paying even more tax, it's not that I hate poor people, sick kids or overworked teachers....I have no problem paying more tax if it actually goes to help the people it's earmarked for.....I have a problem when it's used to give useless lazy fvckers "do nothing" jobs because their second cousin is a state senator

I do get the point, I am as opposed to lazy corrupt government officials as you.  But check it out and you will find that the democratic states subsidize the republican states and incompetence and corrupt greed swings both ways. The difference being, Republicans like to use it as their rationale for not paying taxes. Take a look at Kansas if you want to see the result of tax cuts.
