Tell us Stew: Where would we be now had McCain won?

How would McCain have dealt with the budget deficit? President Bush left a baseline 1.2 trillion deficit for the 2009 fiscal year (yes, Obama increased it).

Actually the budget deficit has not increased under Obama.

http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/federal_deficit_chart.html

The largest deficit was in FY2009 the last Bush budget and has been lower each year since.

Obama increased it by about 200 billion for 2009, including the stimulus.

And to correct an earlier post, it was Bush's penultimate budget that was about .5 trillion. His earlier ones were lower.

Of course, however, Bush didn't include the wars in his budgets.

You lying sacks of shite.........thank God you dont get to vote!!! :)

I'll be voting but New York isn't a swing state so it won't matter too much.

Good, get her to vote three or four times like the dems usually do in swing states and see what happens! :P

Might have been posted before but this chart from Washington Post clearly shows that it was Bush tax cuts and the cost of the Bush wars that increased the deficit. Were Ros Perot running for election, he'd surely bring a chart to show this in the debates.

Yup. And just when you got used to republicans [edited by Mod3] claiming that the world is 6000 years old, now we have to re-adjust to hearing them act as if it's  just under 4 years old.  It' as if this debt and the clusterfuck in Iraq (now universally acclaimed as the biggest foreign policy blunder since Napoleon's invasion of Russia) just fell from the sky and Obama should have been able to snap his fingers and undo the mess in a single term.

Declan

Interesting endorsement of Obama from the main paper in Salt Lake city which I'd have thought would have been very much in the Blue corner

Two newspapers who have not endorsed a republican since 1972 have switched and are not firmly in the Romney, the biggest one is 'The Tennessean'.

This thing is very close and I hope that Romney hammers BO on Libia and on the lies, subsequent cover up and his miserable record as President of theses United States. :)

Debates' Score

Obama 2  Romney 1

Unfortunately for President Obama, he lost the crucial one--the first, but tonight he won handsomely.
