Quote from: J70 on July 08, 2025, 05:56:44 PMIt's going to be tough on those lads getting back into it, especially with Jota such a long-standing member of a squad with many in place even longer. And a football squad is not like a normal workplace. These lads travel and room together  and team morale is much more important than it would be in a typical workplace.

Obviously it's all their jobs, and Slot and Van Dijk will have to do their best to maintain professional standards across the board, but it's hard to know what to expect,or what it's even reasonable to expect, from the club this season.

I guess they'll feel it out as they go.

Unchartered territory so it's hard to know what to expect.  It could set the team back, or instead galvanise them and strengthen their bond.
That's just, like your opinion man.

QuoteIt was the number he wore with pride and distinction, leading us to countless victories in the process – and Diogo Jota will forever be Liverpool Football Club's number 20.

After consultation with his wife, Rute, and family, the club can announce the squad number will be retired in honour and memory of Diogo across all levels, including LFC Women and Academy.

Huge honor considering Liverpool have never done it before.

Didn't expect Liverpool to retire the 20 Jersey and I think there was no pressure on the club to retire it.
So good for them doing it. It's not a thing that can be done lightly.

Seen a horrible post on social media blaming the Chelsea player who injured Jota resulting in his requirement to drive/ferry home!

There are always the 'What if' people when a tragedy happens.

Some of the posts on all the platforms are sickening really.
Dunno what goes through some people's heads.
The usual posts like who will Liverpool blame for this and will they blame The Sun again , it couldn't be Jota's fault because it's never their fault etc etc but others then that are too vile to repeat.
Tomorrow is not guaranteed

It's going to haunt that player for the rest of his life. I hope Liverpool supporters don't pick on him.

It absolutely shouldn't and I would be very disappointed if this was the case.

But where do you go with that? Blame Slot for putting him on? Or the Chelsea manager for telling the player to pick up Jota?

Only a brainless person would view it that way.

And what about the guy who sold him the car,or sold him the tyres, or serviced the car?

Soccer fans will always pick on the player from a rival club, not the other random people involved.
Let's see what happens.
