Every goal came from errors, but you'll always take a tight win in these games.

Hope Stephens' nasty kick at Salah at the end isn't costly with the week that's in it. Two massive games coming up which will tell us how competitive this team is against the big boys.

That big young lad in the middle for Southampton looks a prospect. Great close control, good vision and Liverpool players bouncing off him. Made their second goal.

You may laugh but I'd be happy if he rested a few for the Madrid game, the City game is far bigger imo.

Like a cub of Carlton Palmers

A lot blaming VAR for not interfering for the Penalty. No way you could say it is outside from this?

Brendan

How conceivable is it Liverpool could be without 3 vital players like Salah, Virgil and Trent next season? Would a couple of trophies change their minds if the owners don't budge on wages?

According to NBC's people, the issue was the "clear and obvious" thing. Once the foul was confirmed, there wasn't clear evidence either way to overturn the ref's decision to award the penalty. Which is fair enough.

It was a dumb tackle by Robertson anyway.

Was playing devils advocate. You'd wonder did they draw lines on VAR or did it go that far.

It wasn't the greatest tackle in the world but WTF was Van Dyke playing at, galloping into midfield and then to back heel it to nobody?

Konate had a mare and Van Dyke wasn't great either and they still won, but there's a wobble in those two against the better teams.

Is Van Dyke 34?

Great defender, with maybe another good season in him, Liverpool won't want his wages on the books for much longer than that!

I thought the back 4 all had mares to be honest.  Bradley was like a headless chicken in Southampton's second goal.  Initially he got sucked to the left back position when he didn't need to, leaving the middle wide open, then when they switched it he got sucked in again when he didn't need to leaving the man with a free shot.  Robertsons table was dim and he was caught sleeping at one point in second half.

But a win in a win.

I would be all for resting lads against Real- it's one we can afford to lose and better doing so with a ready made excuse !

One counter argument to that is that Real are under big pressure to qualify, particularly if they don't beat us.

I think they'll be grand. If they lose at Anfield I'd say they're under some pressure but they probably only need one more win to qualify and they've got 3 matches left.
