My feeling would be that Klopp/ Edwards have identified a centre half they want (and can get) for the long term in the summer. Possibly FSG have said, if you go for a short term fix now, the money wont be there for the guy you really want.
Alot of chat about the possiblity of Militoa available on loan from Real. I havent seen him play at all, but he is a Brazil international and  to me that would sense as a low cost short term fix at least until they get the guy they want.
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either

Was reading an article that an issue is the possibility that VVD is well ahead of schedule with his return and to add another body to the squad would impede the possibility that he could be in the CL squad. I really donít see another one being brought in. If one was on the horizon he would have been signed the 1st January given the games that are in January.

Salah and Firmino on the bench tonight. They can't complain.

Henderson rested. Matip back.

Surprised Minamino not starting. Maybe he wants Origi's size in there against Burnley's backs.

WTF is wrong with them?

Its just so sloppy and slow. And even when they do carve open a good chance, they couldn't hit a barn door.

Pathetic  ...not a clue how to break down a 8 man blanket defence saturating the penalty box

Fair play to Burnley. Who the hell knows whatís gone wrong with Liverpool.
I said after Sunday Top 4 was in danger, after that tonight they now have a massive fight for Top 4.
League is gone, forget about it. This is Roy Hodgson levels of bad.

Can't see top 4 myself tbh. Henderson had to be injured? With Matip back, not playing him if fit was a brutal decision.

Too many off-form, tired, stale players. They don't have the speed and touch to do the quick give and go's which were working so well the last couple of years at breaking down packed defenses. I honestly cannot see where a goal is coming from. How many balls did TAA clip onto the head of the first defender? Even when Origi went through unchallenged, you knew he wouldn't score!

This season is a write-off. The form of the other teams might keep them in touch with top four, IF they can get going over the next few weeks, but they won't finish within 20 points of the top.

Leipzig must be rubbing their hands in glee!

As must United for this weekend.

Just have to grind through it, hope to qualify for the Champions League, and start again next season. They've hit the wall for now.

Few expected Burnley to end Liverpools unbeaten run at home. 1974 since they went home with all 3 points from Anfield.

While it may look depressing, Liverpool are a quality team suffering with injuries and a disjointed team,  if they donít buy a CH a midfielder and an attacker to replace Origi then theyíll not improve.

Unreal last two seasons, that canít just go like that. Burnley are grafters.

Pundits completely missing the point again. Loss of the centre halfs has nothing to do with it. I don't even see the need to buy one unless we trade Matip out. It's not our defence that's the problem it's the attack and in particular Firmino. He's done, past it. When he's in form we're unstoppable like against Cyrstal Palace but those days are as rare as hens teeth. He's constantly butchering chances, slowing down the attack, taking the wrong option. If we'd an absolute world class centre forward it would solve a lot of our problems. A goal scorer with a very good touch who can link the play with those around him. The 2 best players in the world at it are lewandoski and Haland. Lewandoski is past it so unless anyone else knows a 9 who likes to play on the break but can also bring other players into it when holding the ball up.

The next big problem is TAA. He's bad, like so bad that I'd play anyone ahead of him at right back. His form is even worse than Firmino, everything he touches is turning to shit. His greatest assest, his passing is completely gone awry, if he doesn't get a good break from the 1st team he'll never get over this slump. I don't know if its mental or burnout or what his problem is but he needs a good break from football to clear his head.

Lastly Klopp is letting us down badly against these teams who sit back and play narrow. We're constantly trying to play through the centre and getting nowhere. The team needs to either play crosses in behind the defence from 30 yards or else run the sideline and get in behind the full backs to get in crosses. Balls delivered into the box between keeper and a backtracking defence punishes teams with a lot of men back because there's a much greater chance someone will poke the ball past their own keeper. We spent the entire last 30 mins trying to play the ball through 10 men camped on the edge of the box. It was never going to work.

Agree and disagee on a few things there. We absolutely do need a CB, even on loan. It seem VVD will be back sooner than expected so i understand if we don't sign anyone but a loan, someone like Militao as mentioned should be brought it to bolster options. While I agree about Firmino and trent, the problems in defence are therefore meaning we need to play Henderson and Fabinho in CB which hinders our midfield which in turns has a detrimental impact on attack and play going forward in general, VVD played like a quarterback and that has an impact on attack. The CB injuries alone have had a knock on impact throughout the whole team.

Lewandowski isnt finished, hes the best striker in the world and has been for a few years. We'll not be signing him though anyway.

On our play, i don't know what games you've been watching but all we did tonight was cross, and fire countless aimless crosses into the box and that is the problem. Trent and Robertson have been shocking and their crossing has let us down. In actual fact it seems like we don't have the confidence to play through the middle enough, Man City have the right idea, but we just resort to putting in aimless crosses, almost like a cop-out. Of course it doesn't help when our whole team is off form either and playing without confidence.
