North Longford

Unreal difference between the Chelsea home and away dressing rooms. Its like the Ritz versus a local youth hostel. The away even has a tactics board partially behind a fire door that is supposed to be kept open.
Home at Anfield is actually very basic.....apparently on purpose too as a reminder of the good old days or something like that....

QuoteMamadou Sakho has promised more "beautiful football" as Liverpool prepare for their biggest league match in 24 years.

The Reds face Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday in a game that will have a massive say in where this year's Premier League title goes.

And French defender Sakho said: "Of course this could be the biggest match Liverpool have played in 24 years.

"You win three points but it's worth a lot more. It is a match that will place the winner in the best position to win the title.

"I hope we win. In any case we are ready for combat. We play at home and have our fans behind us. We will give everything.

"Ever since I arrived at the club, I said it. I told my team-mates that we are capable of winning the title.

"We have the quality and we just have to believe it. And – voila! – as the season progressed we saw Liverpool grow in strength playing such beautiful football.

"We've not stolen the position where we are today. We deserve to be where we are. We are confident about facing their strikers. City score a lot of goals but so do we.

"It will be two beautiful attacks against two strong defences. It's a top match pitting two top teams against each other fighting for the title.

"I have not spoken a lot about matches before we play them. We will see on D-day who is better prepared to take the points."

Sakho, who joined Liverpool from Paris Saint-Germain for £15million last summer, says manager Brendan Rodgers has given the players the belief they are ready for the biggest game of their lives.

Liverpool have not won the title since 1990 but Sakho added: "Rodgers manages to get the maximum out of every player. It's hugely important and not every coach has that charisma.

"He must keep all the players interested and each time he calls up a player they respond with a performance. Like I did at West Ham.

"It's been four months and I haven't played with injury. I had the chance to express myself, and I was there. I felt like a lion before the match. It had been four months and I was hungry to come back strongly.

"The last time Liverpool won the title I was four months old and now I am 24 - I had just been born. Honestly, we will give everything until the last second of the last match."

Sakho or Agger for the weekend???  Man sounds possessed by a demon!  Vive la revolution!

Would go with Sakho.

Sakho was excellent against West Ham. I said on here last week that I hoped Rodgers would play Sakho instead of Agger to negate the aerial influence of Andy Carroll. In the end Rodgers didnt have a choice with Agger picking up an injury.
City don't attack like West Ham though. They pull you all over the place. Positional sense is key for the two centre backs on Sunday & this is Sakho's weakness.

Agger & Skrtel all day long for this match.

Interesting that the Pool-City goal difference is now down to 5 goals, if Liverpool were to win by 1-2 goals alone, Liverpool might be able to win league on goal difference, if they were to out-shoot City in the run in.
Time to take a more chill-pill approach to life.

People with children of shirt-wearing age. Hard to say no to the adorable cherub and their wish for the latest kit, or easy to tell the whining snot machine that mummy/daddy isn't made of money?

Buy them a GAA jersey and send them to Jordanstown.  ;)

Generally he'll end up with one or two - he is 6 and would look for one at birthday or Xmas. In terms of getting value for it, that's not an issue. It worn all the time when he gets one and at this stage between different jerseys he has, he'd barely wear a normal t-shirt. Bar the odd trip to mass!

I don't him getting them to be honest but it not be a case of three new kits been got as soon as they come out.

Surely,  given your position, he should only have the green and gold on his back,  only black and amber in our house,  no wonder yis are where yiz are :P

Would ya stop, I'd collect him from U8's training on Thursday and have to hide if I see him coming in his Liverpool kit  ;)

I was actually talking about Faughs kits above  ;) - Loughy is always bringing out new ones! In all seriousness he would have 5 different Blayney kits on sale at the minute - Green/Gold, White, Navy, Pink and a Grey/yellow one. Don't ask!!!

With the wee lad I had a serious chat with him a few years back - told him he had 3 teams - Blayney, Monaghan and Liverpool. Told him he'd be wearing there kits but not too expect much and be ready for a lot of disappoints. But he should keep the faith, some day he'll be glad he stuck with them all. Then Monaghan give him a load of big days, Liverpool are competing again at the top of the table, so maybe, just maybe Blayney will do the same  ;)

AZOffaly

Hang on, he's six now and you had that chat with him a few years ago? Jaysus, ye breed the negativity early in Monaghan :) O Stoney grey soil of Monaghan, you burgled the bank of my youth.

Under Lights

On his second birthday he sat him down and explained how evil and corrupt the world was. The poor lad is just two murdered parents away from becoming Batman.
