Should have been a Liverpool free at the other end, but that was a brutal goal to give away, not least Jones' mistake (his second spilled ball). Liverpool giving far too many balls away in midfield as well.

Oldham are like a less cultured version of Stoke if you can imagine such a thing. Liverpool look a bit lightweight in too many positions on the field and having that dumpling in goals doesn't help.

And 3-1.

Liverpool struggling. Joe Allen looks lost. Coates worse. Jones is brutal. Oldham doing great. Matt smith could get himself a move. Real handful.
Stevie g coming in to rescue?
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

Captain Obvious

Gerrard,Downing on now will they make a difference?

heganboy

And Shelvey now too. Not optimistic about the finish. SG spending more time shouting at the ref than playing...

Should have been 4. Coates being spanked.

Taxi for Coates. Atrocious.
Yep. Shocking. Now I see why he isn't playing much.

Yeah they totally did fair play to them.
When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

Captain Obvious

Last season under Dalglish Liverpool beat Oldham 5-1 is Rodgers the right manager to bring Liverpool forward?

Physically bullied again by a bigger team. Was a bit like the Stoke match before Christmas. Liverpool had no presence at all in midfield until Gerrard came and in fairness he made a big difference and nearly got the equaliser when he hit the bar. Too many lightweight players on the field at the same time in a FA Cup 3rd round tie away from home when you know it's going to be a physical fight, first and foremost. Coates has the size but was very poor and Jones practically gave a free goal away. Oldham were up for it and Liverpool weren't. The game was played on their terms until Gerrard came on and Liverpool were 3-1 down by then. End of story.

Ah, hard to know what to make of that. Hunger was the key. Well done Oldham. Fixture list will be a little lighter for Brendan and co. So bar a run in the Europa Cup there should be not excuses for fatigue from now on!
