Copying / Recording from Sky Plus

Well quick question for you all.
Once i was recorded a program on sky plus can i copy it to a DVD or USB pen.
I noticed a connection for a usb on mine but when i tried to copy, nothing happened.

Any advice??  Can this be done?

And the USB thingy is not an option.
It's just there to give you an idea of a possibility that might exist in the future when they might have figured out how to make it work.
