Correct me if I m wrong but that map puts you Stephenite in occupied territories on the East Bank. Fortunately I still have to wade across to the other side that was handed over to us.

Like I said, I can't really read that map ;)

But yes, the Quay would have been in that catchment alright.

But in recent years - last 40- only Joe Corcoran, Anthony Egan and David Brady have emerged big time[ I stand to be corrected on this]  from the FST - Former Sligo Territories.

Trying to think hard about that one - Ger Brady played in an All Ireland Senior final so deserves a mention even if his impact was not as noticeable as the big brother. Willie Casey has been domiciled in our neck of the woods for as long as I can remember but if he was there or not 'back in the day' I have no idea. Gavin Duffy could have been a big one if only for the fact that football was his second sport. A few that were on the fringes and great club players came from both areas, Rafter from Bonni, ditto Colm Foody (nutacse), the Tuoheys from Bonni, John Rafter from Ardnaree was a fantastic minor, Brian McDermott from Bonni, Brian Ruane and Cathal Deacy, Liam Brady, Eanna Casey from the   Quay. All of these lads flirted with inter county at one stage or another.

I suspect we could go on a right 'oul trip down memory lane here muinteoir but can't be accused of hijacking the thread :)

Can't really read that - there'd be very few Ardnaree men, in fact there isn't one I'd bet, that would consider themselves Sligoish :P

I would seriuosly doubt that many current Ardnarree people would even be aware they were once in a different county.  My concern would be that the county [ and the adult club itself] has still not got the best of the talent they have produced last dozen years.

Last years U21 had 3 Ard. players starting and only 1 still playing at home. If I were Johnno I would have James Burke on board and give him as much FBD time as possible. With Keith Higgins gone there s a chance to develop an alternative no. 7. Burke s potential is enormous. Last year he was invited to both Dublin and Mayo trials but he did nt attend either for logistical reasons. He would nt have attended the Dublin one, but could nt the Mayo one.

I reckon we ve done a fair job hijacking another thread already so I ll cut my stick on this. I recognise the other lads you metion and considered them but I was thinking about fellas that did it for a fair few years at senior county level.  2 of the best[ probably the two best] I ve come across were Peter Durcan and David Cawley[ French rugby and Ipwich Town respectively]. Willie C as far as I know was a 'Park' man originally - as were many of our best players. His brother Terry [ God be good to him] looked after us at U16.

I was in school with James and i have often wondered why he hasnt been given a chance at senior level.
He has a great left peg and he brings a type of controlled agression to his game and he has good leadership qualities which is not often associated with Mayo players.

Part of Bellaghy parish is in Antrim. The Antrim part, Far Ballyscullion, doesn't have its own club so the Antrim based Bellaghy men mostly play for Ahoghill.

Yes, but the Bellaghy bit has always confused me. Was the course of the river Bann altered at any stage? Can any of our London boys help? Max?

Mullinalaghta (Longford) and Scrabby Gowna (Cavan) - two provinces as well as two counties
Mountnugent (Cavan) and St. Brigid's Ballinacree (Meath) - ditto

Swanlinbar (Cavan) and Kinawley (Fermanagh)
Coralstown-Kinnegad (Westmeath) and Clonard (Meath) - I think...

Kinnegad-Clonard is correct

Fr Caseys ( Abbeyfeale Co. Limerick) pitch is in Co Kerry.

AZOffaly

There's a Cork/Kerry boundary around Rathmore, can't think of the club, but the club itself, as far as I know, is eligible to play for both Cork and Kerry. In the Munster Junior Final a couple of years ago, two clubmates, from the same town, were marking each other.

Kilanny (Co Monaghan) has part of its pitch in Louth I think.
