Sorry bottlethrower- great post (agree with all of it) by the way except the first line. To describe an away defeat to Tipp as "devastating" is pure hyperbole. 12 months ago we'd have lost by 15 points yesterday. We were 8 down after 20 mins- prior dublin teams would have looked for the exit signs at that stage. But they battled back and pulled it off.
What gives me confidence is that we actually have scoring forwards now. We can shore up the backs. We've never had a problem finding backs but we could never break eggs up front. 2 19 year olds in the full forward line. Treacy even outscored Noel Mc Grath who is Tipp's version of Canning.
The aim this year for Dublin is to make the the last 8 in the championship. That and survival is a bloody good year. You can see the difference with Rushe and Treacy and these lads, they have no inhibitions of playing the likes of Tipp.

it was probably an exaggeration, but I think I'd still go with the point I was making - Dublin will be disappointed by this. Ian O'Riordan has an excellent report in the IT today. He puts it way better than I ever could.

My concern is that throwing the kitchen sink at a poor Tipp team and losing will deflate Dublin somewhat. I don't think this will happen. I hope it doesn't happen.

Dublin running Tipp to two points and Kerry running Antrim to two points today. Teams going in opposite directions, fast.............
So Dublin and Kerry can't improve . It must be teams getting worse?
Anyway, long story short... is a phrase whose origins are complicated and rambling.

Poor Tipp team or not- bar kilkenny they'd be as good as cork/galway/waterford. The problem at the moment is that everybody looks poor compared to kilkenny. Tipp aren't any worse than any of the others they just aren't kilkenny thats all. They only really have Eoin Kelly to come back in and Munster looks wide open at the moment.
