Another similar one, on brother's laptop this time "Spwyare protect".  Just spent hours on the phone, seems to be blocking malware bytes from running.  No system restores available.  McAfee is finding a problem and deleting it, but it's back again after reboot.

Any bright ideas?

Reboot into safe mode and try and run malwarebytes again.  Do a full system scan instead of a quick scan.  To get into safe mode press F8 after the Bios Post screen when you turn on your computer.  If you aren't sure keep pressing F8 every second or two a few seconds after you power on the PC.

Select "Safe mode with networking" and you should be able to update Malwarebytes before running the scan.

Go onto eset website. More commonly known as NOD32. Use their free online scanner.

Had already tried running it in safe mode, no go.

Anyways, after some more googling, managed to remove the file that was blocking it and and malware then finished the job.  Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the input.
