Nothing, I dont make it. Id eat cold rice, before Id eat cold rice salad.

The trick is that it should be cooled as quickly as possible after cooking and fired into the fridge. I used to live on the stuff! Uncooked rice has natural spores which aren't killed by cooking but they get excited and can form bacteria if the rice is warm or at room temp for a long period. If you get it cooled it'll be grand for heating the next day. Lovely!

Add a drop of water and put it into the microwave in a sealed container for a few minutes and it will be good

BIG NO !

I'm no gordon ramsay but i DEFINITELY recall some cooking show on one night there and it said NOT to reheat rice, I cant remember exactly why but it did make me sit up and think !!

I saw a similar one myself, am sure they said the same about spuds. Never had a problem reheating either up to 2 days after the first cooking. Fry it up as stir fry and you'll be fine, (thats assuming you've cooked it first time round yourself, wouldnt trust the take away)

Are you sure abble?
Am quite sure I seen Nigella on one night & she had boiled the rice from the night before & fried them up the next morning with chorizo sausage & a few other things. Fcuk Im getting hungry thinking about it.

As someone said it might make a difference if it is boiled or fried rice originally

It's true that you could get food poisoning from eating reheated rice. But it's not actually the reheating that's the problem – it's the way the rice has been stored before reheating.

Uncooked rice can contain spores of Bacillus cereus, bacteria that can cause food poisoning. When the rice is cooked, the spores can survive. Then, if the rice is left standing at room temperature, the spores will germinate into bacteria. These bacteria will multiply and may produce toxins (poisons) that cause vomiting or diarrhoea. Reheating the rice won't get rid of these toxins.

So, the longer cooked rice is left at room temperature, the more likely it is that bacteria, or the toxins they produce, could stop the rice being safe to eat.

It's best to serve rice when it has just been cooked. If that isn't possible, cool the rice as quickly as possible (ideally within one hour) and keep it in the fridge for no more than one day until reheating.

Remember that when you reheat any food, you should always check that it's piping hot all the way through, and avoid reheating more than once.
