blood sweat and tears... thats why we love watching it, just cos that pansy Dooher can't take a slap in the stomach doesn't mean we need to get all health and safety on here!!
DRIVE THAT BALL ON!!

I'm not in the pansy camp but the Aussies are no example to us. Softening opponents up is part and parcel of their game. We saw it in the international rules. You'll see it every week in their domestic games.

Pangurban

Let the Hurling Referees take charge of the football, they will bring a fresh perspective and wont buy the play acting

Good idea Pangurban, best one yet.  Send that idea into HQ immediately.  Dooher and Clancy and the like wouldn't know what had hit them (or rather, what hadn't even hit them in the first place)

Management has to take responsibility. What does a club' s ethos tolerate and who do they put in charge of their teams? I regard loose cannons on the pitch as being liabilities and would nt play them. Not if your serious about the game. All aggression and hardness has to be controlled and basically the management is responsible for this - that is why Pat O shea cut a forlorn figure Munster Final. His captain of all people had thrown a wobbly. This was nt a club fool on the DTs. There is loads of room for aggression in the game and loads of lads get hit hard and injured incidentally.  But no excuse for some of the stuff we see.

Agreed, watching AFL over here in Melbourne & to be honest while AFL is a grand game, the players are fckn thugs. That Barry Hall is right off his rocker, but it is indemic in Ozzie Rules & to be honest it just looks stupid.
