Is that Mortimor or Mcdonald in your avatar!! ;D ;)
no silly goose Mortimer has the Platinum hilights

cars brought south are taxed the same way rate depending on C02 omissions unless they are owned for more than 6 months and they can be imported VRT free.

The MKI TT is a design classic. Definitely one of the prettiest cars ever made. The lines of the car are almost perfect. Like a 911 or even an original Beetle its almost flawless. Almost. Sadly the cars didnt really go like they looked. The 1.8T engine even in 225bhp form wasnt really that quick, although it could be remapped and fitted with bigget turbos etc, but Audi lost out big time by not releasing an RS version. Although they did release a 3.2 version, it was nose heavy and handled worse than the 1.8T. The handling could be improved by fitting R32 anti roll bars and lowering the suspension. THE interior in the MKI is one of the nicest in its class. How could any car with an ad like this not be considered cool?  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hP2YL7XfopI
The TT did have a reputation as a hairdressers car, but this was mostly from idiots in souped up Clios and Saxos.

The MKII is a much more driver focused car. Better handling, better engines and the DSG gearbox can now handle more torque. The 2.0 is a much better engine than the old 1.8, though they are still using the 3.2. The much waited "S" version has just been released in the UK, though we still await the must talked about RS version. An RS TT is probably the only way I would ever sit an Audi again. The dealer network is a nightmare and the A4 is blandness on wheels, but thats for another thread. If anything they have improved the interior, though there are some issues with the seats. There is a downside to the MKII, its definitely not as nice as the original and they have stuck the new corporate front end on the car. You cant tell which Audi is coming at you these days head on, they all look the same.
You`ll get a much better insight on the TT Forum.  http://www.tt-forum.co.uk/forum/

There you go, LL.

BTW HS, if I had the funds, I would have a new TT, instead I drive an A3 with the same engine as a practical alternative.

There you go what  ??? What the f**k does that prove  :D
Btw i have never had a suped up Clio,Saxo,Corsa,Micra in my life  :D I prefer the luxury car market like A4's etc though i did have cracking Gti Golf once until i had a fight with a Toyota Landcrusier and lost  :'(
I don't care how fast a TT goes or how good it handles i wouldn't be caught dead driving one imho they are a lady's car and a man driving one is just plain wrong..Just my opinion mind but thats how i see it
