See citi have announced 145 new jobs in Belfast! Will this bring about a proper finance sector in the north which can only be good for the economy?

good news for belfast given the fact that citi are purging jobs world wide.
I assume that it is cost effective fro them to remove much higher paying jobs elsewhere and come in to the relatively cheap belfast environment with 2 million support from invest ni.

As for the finance sector - citi belfast is mostly tech infrastructure etc. I dont know if these jobs will be pushing into new territory.

For financial software Northern Ireland is already a hotbed :)

It's good news for the Titanic Quarter as much as for the general employment benefits. The new builds will be filled pretty quickly.

There's a lot of people leaving that place though...

No doubt they throw the money at you but not sure how interesting the actual job would be!

Good to see more IT jobs in Belfast though. Having worked with people from every side of the world in IT I believe that Belfast is the strongest place you will find for software developers and the sooner these big companies realise it the better.

(I've never worked with any southern places so not sure of the standard down there...)

Citi.

(Not in terms of worldwide redundancies but in terms of there seems to be a few leaving the Belfast office as they're not happy with the job.)

Wouldnt fancy working for citi myself.

Heard mixed reports about them as well. Lot's of monitoring how long you are logged in and what programs you are using to measure your efficiency and how much work you are actually doing... not a job for anyone who frequents this board I would imagine!
