It is amazing the joy one can derive from a sports fixture ;D At least Linfield/IFA's dyslexic fans can console themselves by the belief that they were beaten by  the current SPL Champions :D The Linfield/IFA manager says he is proud of his players ::)

With Lisburn Distillery suffering a 5-1 hammering (their solitary goal came from the son of a real Irish legend by the way) at home to some unknown team from Georgia it begs the question how crap is Irish league football and should public money continued to be pumped into it at all?

There's no defending two crap results, but it is worth pointing out that IL teams are in their closed season, whereas the Danes and the Georgians aren't.

And seeing as how Sligo Rovers, in mid-season, got beaten at home by an Albanian side(!) who are currently in their closed season, I wouldn't be so quick to gloat, if I were you.

And that's before we get to the spectacle of Motherwell, who qualified from the same SPL as your beloved Celtic, losing 1-0 at home to the Welsh part-timers of Llanelli... ::)

That just goes to show alright how crap the SPL really is.
There is no I in team, but if you look close enough you can find ME

That Motherwell result really was shocking.

Er Sligo were defeated by a single goal, not embarrassed like Linfield/IFA and Distillery.

Motherwell, (who preferred a former Dundalk player and manager as their manager ahead of Lawrie Sanchez :D) had a freak result which they will overturn in the second leg.

As I said, the two IL results were very poor. However, given the circumstances (home advantage, weak opposition, summer/winter season etc), the Sligo and Motherwell results were equally bad.

Therefore, you have no cause to gloat at anyone elses expense.

But still you do.... ::)

P.S. If I were speaking up for the ROI, I personally would be trying to draw attention away  from the fact that they were "managed" to their most embarrassing result in years by Jim Gannon. If nothing else, it might cause someone to point out that he also got the job ahead of a certain former ROI manager and I really wouldn't care to be reminded of that particular National Embarrassment!  :D

Possibly explains why they're losing to Welsh part timers.
