As a Celtic fan, I believe that all teams should be treated equal, not changing the goal posts to advantage one team - congratulations to Rankers for managing to manipulate the SPL once more.

Wise up, If it were the other way about would Celtic have received the same treatment?  If not, then it is a disgrace.  But it seems like common sense!

2003 and Celtic did ask for a league re-schedule and were denied!
BTW my quote above would relate to any team in any sport which play in a league.
A big difference this year is that the death of Phil O'Donnell caused additional fixtures to be postponed.

That had more of an impact on Motherwell and to a lesser extent Dundee United and Celtic.

And Motherwell v Rangers is one of the games needed to be re-fixed.
Pretty sure St Mirren v Rangers was postponed around that time too.

Both the matches you mentioned were cancelled due to water-logged pitches.

illdecide

Not sure about that but Rangers brought some of this fixture backlog on themselves. Remember them calling off a league game recently because they were playing Lyon in the champions league (a lot of good it done they got tanked 3-0) not sure if it was Gretna or St Mirren. They knew this was gonna pile their fixtures up but were still allowed to do so by their pals in the SFA

Main Street

It's an extremely hypothetical situation anyway  (Rangers getting to the final)

THERE IS NO ADVANTAGE

If they do get to the final, they have to play 3 SPL games in a row afterwards
14th May UEFA final
17th May Motherwell v rangers
20th May St. Mirren v Rangers
22nd May Aberdeen v Rangers

If Rangers do not get to the UEFA FINAL
Tuesday 13 May  St Mirren v Rangers
Thursday 15 May  Motherwell v Rangers
Sunday 18 May  Aberdeen v Rangers 1.30pm

This is what the rangers chief exc had to say on the matter

QuoteBAIN: They've done nothing to help Rangers

by Darrell King

MARTIN BAIN today launched a fresh attack on the SPL's end of season fixture plans, branding them as crazy and a joke'.

The Rangers chief executive's fury has only increased 24 hours after the governing body unveiled two possible scenarios for the run-in.

Plan A will kick in if Rangers don't make the Uefa Cup Final; Plan B will apply if they do. But Bain is raging with both scenarios.

He fired: "This is crazy. I think it's fair to say we are very, very unhappy from the boardroom down to the dressing room on this.

"If these proposals are being seen by anyone in any way as a victory for Rangers, then that is an absolute joke.

"Yes, a modest extension' has been granted but I do not see why it could not have been applied - even if we do not beat Fiorentina in the Uefa Cup semi-finals.

"I have looked at both of the SPL fixture models from every angle and, by my arthimetic, we either face four games in eight days - or four games in nine.

"There has been talk in certain quarters about the sporting integrity of the league and how that had to be retained. Where is the sporting integrity when Rangers are the only club being asked to play four league games in eight days?

"So far Rangers have been handed back-to-back Old Firm games at Parkhead and a schedule of seven away games out of the last nine league games.

"I was prepared to accept those fixtures from the SPL as they gave me a rationale behind that scheduling.

"But I cannot find a rationale for four games in eight days with an extension, and with us in the Uefa Final. Or, indeed, why it could not have been extended if we lost to Fiorentina to give a little more time between games."

So what were Rangers looking for from the SPL? Bain said: "Our preference was for the final top-six games to be played on Tuesday, May 27, after the Cup Final.

"I understand there was a problem of teams being kept hanging around, but I still feel it was a better solution.

"Basically, even though the season will be extended in the event of us reaching the Uefa Cup Final, it has been done simply to accommodate games rather than give us any leeway ahead of a European final."

Bain points to 2003, when Celtic reached the Uefa Cup Final in Seville and they got a week clear to prepare for Porto.

He is also stunned by Rangers' build-up to the Scottish Cup Final.

"You are looking at a scenario where we play St Mirren at Love Street on the Tuesday, go to Aberdeen on the Thursday, get home around 2am - then play the Scottish Cup Final the following day!

"That is supposed to be the showpiece finale of the domestic season."

i cannot see where rangers are getting any real advantage form the proposed extension.

It seems that the IFA and the Scottish FA have a lot in common, they both take care of the more sectarian element of their core member teams to the detrement of teams that were more inclusive in the way they have traditionally run their clubs.
