Lads when i am using the internet at home the page i am on keeps freezing, when i close it i get the old "programme is not responding" message. It has been happening for about a week now, the signal strength icon on the bottom corner of my screen is still saying "excellent" so would this be a problem with my computer or BT as my internet provider? Cheers

It is a problem with your browser rather than your internet connection.
What are you using? BT browser or IE or Firefox?
Maybe download the latest version and try that.
Or download and use one of the others.

Using Internet Explorer, was talking to an I.T. fella in work there and he said it sounds as if there is a "wee bugger" in it. He reckons i should give Spybot a run on it.

Yeah give that a go.
If your still using IE6 download IE7 and try that.

You could always download Firefox as well.

Definitely sounds like a browser issue. Try uninstalling and reinstalling IE, or as Mhic Easmuint suggests, download a different one such as Firefox or Opera.

No one should be still using IE6 BTW. Worst browser ever!

Is the browser a matter of choice, is one better than the other?

The browser is a matter of choice Minder.

Most people would use IE as it seems to come with the OS now but if you do you should regularly update it yourself.

IE is microsoft's browser so a lot of people have issues with microsoft and things like security vulnerabilities and don't use it so use firefox instead but it's a matter of choice.

Here's where to get firefox or try the microsoft site for the latest IE:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Spybot would also be a good way to go. Sounds perhaps more like a virus but run sypbot and get the latest IE (or firefox if you choose). Between the two your problem should get resolved.

minder try AVG as a virus checker and see what happens with that.

If you have Google toolbar installed - get rid of it!!! if this doesn't work then run the following application http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

Go to the Control Panel, then add/remove programs.
It should be in the list there to remove.

If that was your problem, I would recommend getting a spyware programme that offers real-time protection, rather than after-the-fact protection like Spybot.

PC Tools Spyware Doctor or Webroot Spy Sweeper are very good.
