would that be New Jersey, where not only have they the highest per capita income of any state (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_per_capita_income) but they "for that kind of money" they can also spell "apparently".
Maybe spelling isn't required for sophistication. Maybe for sophistication, education is important in which case NJ is fourth ranked in the list of smartest states (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0931043.html) that's 12 ahead of Spitzer's New York.
