After all the tears that were being shed a couple of years ago that the Irish Soccer and Rugby teams might have to go to Britain to play their matches, why do we not hear anything similar now, when a game between Ireland and Colombia in being played at Craven Cottage.

7 or 8 thousand went to those Unity Cup matches in London a few years back. Craven Cottage should be more than big enough.

I'd say Columbia are looking to use London as a base for their European players to meet up - think they play France in Paris after us then head out for important qualifiers.

Should be a good trip though - thinking of heading over.

Those unity matches were piss poor as well. The real friendly that time was the game against Holland.
I would have thought something similar would be arranged this time against some teams on their way to the Euro Finals and give them a good kick around as they would all be afraid of picking up an injury.

The Columbia game is on a Thursday eve? There will be a lot of interest if only for the Trap factor. I can imagine that not many players will be pulling out their sick notes. Remember what happened to Dave O´Leary

Good point main. It'll be interesting to compare the "injury" list for these two matches with the list for the US tour for Stan last year. Shambolic as Stan may have been, the squad he was left with was a disgrace. Joe Lapira anyone?

QuoteThe means of words change

Until the change is universally accept it is just polite for yoou to note the change in use of the words. also I am not sure the wiesenthal centre has ok'ed this particular change of use  . I know they kick up a racket every time some one uses holocaust to refer to any thing other than germanies eradication attempt . even stalins go is called a pogrom.

This is a much more productive discussion rather than where a bunch of homless paddies in england go for a summer jolly to kick a ball about
