I heard that the Mayo minors are poor this year, was I mis-informed?

roscommon led through most of this game except when it mattered most...AT THE FINAL WHISTLE.

SLIGONIAN

Sligo 1-11 Leitrim 0-4, decent start but tougher tests ahead..

I seem to remember Mayo bet us last year in the MFL but we bet them well in the Championship so hopefully history will repeat itself.
Mind you this year's Connacht MFC is a total dog's dinner of a thing altogether,
Davy's given us a dream to cling to
We're going to bring home the SAM

Good result for Sligo minors. They're tipping along nicely and could have a decent summer.

Indeed, but Laythrum's underage looks to be brutal this year, Under-21's got a hiding the other week too, only scored a point. With the seniors and the ladies in freefall, shaping up to be an excellent year for the neighbours. 8)

Don't know anything about this years Mayo minor team but we do need a Connacht title at this level badly. I think its 6 or 7 years since we won one. I think there is a conscious move away though from small skillful players to bigger grafters with the hope of combining the two in the years to come. Its a County Board driven initiative so you would fear for the consquences.

I always worry when I hear about the need for big players. When we say that in Mayo it usually means find a big mullocker and try make a footballer out of him with normally disastrous consequences.
What we need to be doing is getting good young footballers and getting them on proper programmes so they can be as physically strong as possible WITHOUT compromising speed etc
I just wish the right type of people were setting the agenda. There was talk, more than talk actually, think they actually had a launch, of a super duper coaching plan a few years ago - the Jack Kenny School.
A lot of former inter county players committed to helping but nothing proper came of it. Think they've done a bit of work with Under 14 and Under 15 but nothing along the lines of what was planned. I think money, surprise, surprise, was the handicap
Mayo for Sam! Just don't ask me for a year

Does anyone have the fixtures for this weekend?
My own club have 2 players on the panel at the moment, though I know that it's not the finalised panel yet and there will no doubt be about 10 Jarlaths lads called up when their colleges campaign is completed. They beat Kildare well a few weeks ago.
Apart from that, I'm not sure how our lads have been shaping up or what players are on the panel so far really.
