Im just gonna have a quick rant here, and then off ill go.

Ever since I joined this board, there have been threads devoted to how this board is going to the dogs with the new posters, childish posters and so on. Threads like "Is the board worth bothering with anymore?". In the last couple of months, the board has decended to a level of sheer internet lunacy with posters wanting to meet up for fights, others wanting to sign up to cause trouble (repeatedly) and all kinds of carry on. While the mods have had no choice due to the behaviour of some on here, these new rules are like being part of an internet boarding school with people running off and reporting posts to satisfy their own personal vendettas so the mods can come out and trawl through posts and warn or ban people for "violation of rule 9" or other such variations. Obviously the rules have been made necessary, but they leave a bad taste in the mouth and Im sure, (or at least I hope) that the mods dont enjoy this kind of policing.

Mod3 is right, some of us treat this like our local, but unfortunately it is in danger of becomming more like witherspoons. Maybe we could all just start using a little common sense. Id also like to suggest that the moderators use common sense. For example, if Id inadvertently bent a rule, and there was a poster who had some beef with me and began trawling my every post looking for reasons to report me, Id like that to be made a rule of its own. i.e. posters continually reporting relatively innocuous threads and posts need to be dealt with also. Schoolboy running to the teacher will kill this board as quickly as a cyber informationsuperhighway feud.

As someone once said "Id like to appeal for calm"

Anyways, its a shame you cant go out for a nice dinner without the bleeding phone going off the hook. If I was your date Id have launched the blackberry into the clam chowder and that would have been that.

I think thats the rant over. I wish the coffee would hurry the feck up.

I believe that was whitey ford and he was knocked unconscious with a barrage of pretzels
Anyway, long story short... is a phrase whose origins are complicated and rambling.

puckoon, if you don't want people reporting posts what do you suggest they do if they're on the receiving end of a load of shite?
Which one of you bitches wants to dance?

Surreal Steve

surely the board would be a better place if these repeated offenders were perma banned.

Dont get me wrong pints, report all that needs to be reported. I just feel like there are posters out there who nit pick and they dont nit pick publicly, they privately are pming the mods every day with posts that could be let go. Maybe its just all this talk of conspiracy theory on the other thread you started thats gotten into my head. You and 5ive times have done everything very publicly! I wasnt referring to either of you.

Common sense and a return to decent banter is I guess what im just missing. In the last week we've had threads devoted and titled to two internet arguements. EG and HNN being the other thread. Its pointless.

I guess that was a relative exaggeration. Still though, for a bunch of well rounded GAA afficionados, it has gotten quite mental in here at times.

Slander, Libel, death threats... :o

Relative internet lunacy if you ask me. :D
