where in Egypt LL? i was in Sharm el Sheik last month for a week.  I was all inclusive in a hotel called the coral sea resort. It turned out to be a great hotel, located right on the beach.  We didnt go to the pryamids as the wife couldnt do the extra flights in one week but it was handy enough to go to Cairo or Luxor from there if ya wanted to. that way you´d both get what yous want...

Yup Sharm el Sheik is where we were looking at...Cairo is a long haul though, isn't it at least 6 hours on a bus?

aye its 6 or maybe even 7 hours by bus. i wouldnt be doing that in the heat over there! its a short flight though and its about 150 or so euros each return i think.  we were through first choice\falcon and they helped anyone book the flights etc to either luxor or Cairo from the hotel.

i was happy enough to stay around sharm el sheik and do snorkeling an all that (feckin jelly fish stung me though)

Looking at the map Luxor is a lot closer than Cairo..Would also like to go there as the Valley of the Kings is there
Was thinking end of August early September,im sure it would be still fairly hot

oh it would still be fairly hot alright. it gets up to 50 in the summer. that would just be unbearable. it would easily have been forty some of the days we were there in mid april.

they say luxor is a better day trip, again by flight, because there is more to see there, with the valley of the kings and all.  dont think there is a bus trip available to there though
