Nearly forgot another Philomena butcher job

That song was in the Irish charts for the entire Length of my teenage years,it made my skin crawl.

Just listened to billy jo's version there, apparently the line goes 'just becuase we are married, it don't mean we can't slip around', not sleep as I always thought. Or maybe that's just the way things are in Tyrone.

Great Leap Forward

Just to be topical, did any of you read a while back that Martin Jols' favourite song of all time is the Fureys' When you were sweet sixteen?

Apparently she has a signed copy of it into the bargain.

They are brilliant live. (there's a few posts to that effect towards the start of this thread)

cheers AZ. their music seems to really have been resurrected again, especially down round this part of the world. they are all culchies that love it though. most of my townie friends have never heard of them.

The Wurzels sang Combine Harvester. Its more of an English farming song than a culchie song really, its more Ooh-Aarr and scrumpy than howsshecuttin' and pot'o tae. I went to an English Agri-college where I discovered that people actually talk like that.

Anyway In the local the Fishermans Blues by the Waterboys always gets people dancing around the place. (And if your ever going through some eastern towns in Meath be sure to drop in to Bennetts pub, could be one of the best pubs in Ireland)

As for the Docs i think their song writing talents are underestimated, Wake Up Sleeping is a fantastic song, has a nice athmosphere and emotion to it that the band dont tamper with by making the music too complicated.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016
