On the Down thread 5iveTimes posted these odds he got from McGranaghans bookies

National Football League Division Three
100/30 Down
100/30 Louth
5/1 Sligo
11/2 Wexford
13/2 Fermanagh
7/1 Longford
7/1 Limerick
12/1 Leitrim

McGranaghans must be a Down bookies and are covering themselves by making Down favourites.

11/2 Wexford? They've had a few decent results in recent years, and seem to be an ok league team. They might be worth a punt.

Leitrim aint the worlds worst bet, in fact a case could be made for every side there?

Division 3 is fairly competitive. Leitrim is a hard place to go to, Limerick will be keen, and hard to beat in the Winter. Sligo, Down, Fermanagh, Louth and Longford will be aiming for a good championship season this year and I've already mentioned Wexford. I think 100/30 is way too short on Down or Louth.

As I said on the Down thread none of these teams will go through the campaign unbeaten.

As far as I know, there will be no Semi Finals or Quarter Finals in the League next year, just a straight Final between the top 2 teams, who will also be promoted in Divs. 2, 3 and 4. Also, as a serious consequence of relegation to Div. 4, the bottom 2 teams in Div. 3, will not be allowed to play in the qualifiers unless they reach a Provincial Final. I know it is very unfair, but that is the system that was voted in last year and surprisingly was not changed this year. If the bookies' odds are right Limerick and Leitrim will not be in the qualifiers next year.

Is that the same in Div 1, just a final between the top 2? I liked the old system where the winners of D3, D4 etc all got a run at the title.

I agree. Getting promoted from any division is an achievement but I can't see the point in another match for a trophy that means little or nothing. Much better to have a competition that every county in Ireland can win.

An alternative knock out system could be:

Q/final: Top Div 4 Vs Top Div 3
S/final: Top Div 2 Vs Winner q/final
Final: Top Div 1 Vs Winner s/final
