Don't like flying!  Considering ferry to Northern France.  Any recommendations for campsites/hotels ?

Anyone recommend somewhere in Ireland for the half term in Feb. Looking somewhere for the family, where we can stay with plenty of trails that we could take the bikes out on. Ideally off road so kids could head out themselves if wanted too.
Have done centre parcs a few times and enjoyed it but would like somewhere different this time. But similar would be good, especially if they have activities. Coming from the North so ideally somewhere 3ish hrs travel.
Had seen someone mention Lough key in Roscommon? Anyone been?

We stayed at campsite in Nevez called Les Deux Fountaines. It was about 50 minutes from Roscoff so not too long to go. We went through eurocamp but I don't think they operate there anymore but you can just book directly with them. It was great for younger kids at the time, pools etc and the beach was a 10 minute walk from the camp.

A bit further afield, but have any of ye been to the Dominican Republic before? I read last night TUI are doing direct flights from Belfast?

A lot of the all-inclusives looks to be on-par with cancun/mexico etc?

Would ye whist

Been there, a great spot, however be careful to check you are not travelling during storm season as some of the storms can get pretty rough

Was there 30 years ago! First all inclusive, think ours was near Sosua, in those days flights were from London but was cheap enough in those days, we did all the excursions and everything was free all day and until ya went to bed, some all inclusive its free until 11pm.. We went to the Capital Santa Domingo, we did a tour of the areas around us, poverty was madness then, would be probably the same now.. We did the white water rafting on the river that was used in Jurassic Park film, great day, but would bring a lunch as the one they gave us had a dirty finger nail in hers lol, I did the right thing and took hers and ditched the nail  :o

They don't encourage you to go into the town at all, could have changed by now but we did go in, the taxi was a motor bike with a very long seat, she wasn't impressed, the men are proposition nearly everywhere in town or at the beach by prostitutes, even in the sea one came up to me lol! Again she wasn't impressed with my inability to get them away quick lol, could have got better over the years.

Overall it was a great place, we'd no issues food wise and entertainment on every night, didn't feel unsafe either, we also touched lucky with the room, it had a downstairs and upstairs with a balcony looking over the pool area..
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Domaine des ormes is close enough to cherbourg, maybe an hour or two. Its a bit like centerparcs - wave pool etc and plenty of activities. We've done a few further down, maybe a 5 hour drive, le pins parasol, garangeoire Any of those 3 have been good. No guarantees on scorching weather though... if you are considering eurocamp I'd check out booking direct with the sites. Have found the accommodation is usually cheaper,  better standard and better  position on site.

If you don't mind a 3-4 hour drive, I'd recommend it, certainly for part of your holiday.

Normandy and Brittany are fabulous places; like going back in a time machine for the most part to a more relaxed, less material world. Plus they've got genuine history if you're into that sort of thing. Mont St Michel is wonderful even if you aren't.

But the weather is more hit than miss. It feels a little like being in Wexford in summer. Not cold enough to need a coat, but not warm enough to lie out in the sun.

It gets a lot warmer inland and further south. As I say, if only for a few days, it's worth it just to see and smell that big yellow thing in the sky.
