Well it is that good at least one of that illustrious trio does not live in Strabane anymore........

Not saying it's particularly brilliant, just not that bad!

Well these types of investment decisions aren't made lightly, they obviously see that there will be a sizeable enough return on their investment.

She isn't really for Strabane and either is Norf ;)

The only true blue Strabanian here is FóSB.

Fair play to Strabane for getting out of the top 20 worst places to live. I seen their 10 year economic plan a few years ago and back then I thought it was a bit ambitious for a border town like their. In fairness to them, it is coming into fruitation. Still a bit to go, but it definately isn't the bleak town it once was a few years ago.

Ha....strictly speaking none of us live in Strabane no more! FSoB and Rois are in pastures new, and I live about 5 mins from Strabane town in a small village!! All three very proud of our Strabanise roots though.

I think I stated this last year, that the council missed a trick here. Instead of talking up the town, they should've been using it as a tool to attract some external help. A cry for help as such.

Strabane has improved, and there are countless towns in Northern Ire who share it's positives and negatives. The problem is that it's proximity to Derry means that Northbrook aside it will struggle to attract meaningful big corporations and employment opportunities. As such talented young people, like my 2 fellow Strabanise on the board, move to other towns and cities.

One other potential problem is the ASDA development. I think it's having a detrimental affect on the smaller, town centre retailers. I was in the town centre last Friday at 3pmish, and it was virtually deserted! Something needs to be done to assist, and I think ASDA should've been located nearer the town centre, for example where the scor site is.

Norf, thats the knock on effect of ASDA, no matter where it is situated. The huge WALMART/ASDA discounts are always going to be a huge detriment to the smaller retailer - especially if its close to a relatively poor area.

QuoteTis intersting, that there's a town in the county Antrim that is overrun with vermin. They're out on the streets every weekend fighting and spreading their foul disease ridden germs and generally torturing the population. A few were caught yesterday but they'll be back on the streets next week.

I was thinking along the lines of Carrickfergus, Larne and Ballymena which are up there with the worst of them.  Obviously different criteria is used to compile these rankings, but surely one key element in classifying a town is by assessing the likelihood of getting stabbed or murdered, which happens in the aforementioned places alot more than in Strabane.

There have been a few punishment shootings lately in Strabane, they have been in response to clothes going missing off washing lines.

How can a place that boasts FoSB, Norf Tyrone and myself ever have been considered bad  :P

And nrico2006 to boot Rois! Anyway, life's a beach in Strabane these days... since they put that sand on Moorloch's foreshore  ;)
