I see you guys heard our news!

It's been a hard road since this time last year, raking up horrible memories on top of our grief but we had to do it for Stephen and for Daddy. The last thing we wanted was going to the media but Reid left us no choice since he and his club ignored all our correspondence. He even ignored a direct plea from my younger brother who phoned him and asked him straight to step down as a mark of respect to Daddy.

We met with Danny Murphy and Ryan Feeney twice to voice our grievance but they were powerless because each club is autonomous. I don't know of any other governing body that has no control or say regarding who represents their organisation which I feel is very wrong and something should be done to make sure scum like Reid are prevented from taking office in the future - even if this means changing the very constitution of the GAA.

Thanks again for all your emails and support over the last year.

Michelle

Hi Lads,

There is no good I can see coming out of this thread going down this route. I won't have it turn into a thread where Stephen's memory is sullied by all sorts of name calling and abuse and counter abuse, and I don't think that would serve any purpose in any case.

It seems to me that his family have achieved what they set out, and I don't think there's anything more to be gained by abusing either the club or individual in question any further. Equally there's nothing to be gained by trying to reopen the entire debate at this juncture. There's nothing more to be said there. I am therefore going to delete the last few posts on this thread and ask that people respect the rules of this board, and respect Stephen's family by not picking at these wounds any more.

Thanks
