im calling this project the tri sport stadium because 1. it cant be a national stadium because northern ireland is not a nation 2.it cant be a provincial stadium because n.irl is not a province. i could go on but im sure you get it. anyway eddie poots had his meeting today to discuss the citing of the stadium and fair play to the GAA they put their cards on the table, its the maze or nowhere. soccer want the maze but rugger would prefer a belfast site. following these ascertions pootsies belfast colleagues in the dup stated that effectivly the GAA had "vetoed" the project by refusing to consider a belfast site. the way i see it neither of these two sports soccer or rugby can fill the proposed stadium so in effect they could both sell tickets for £4 and still make the same money as they do now ;. making the cost of attending a gaa match seen very expensive in compariousion (£12) if we are to go ahead with this project we are effectivly giving both of these lame ducks a serious leg up. as we are not hanging for this ground in fact we can do nicely without it i'd be inclined to let the hare sit. if the gov do decide to give them a cash hand out we would be intitled to the same. in the meantime rugby is going to crokepark and norn iron soccer is going down the pan or across the water as windsor pk crumbles down around its sectarain foundations. but there is a downside! watch how the media in particular the bbc shift the blame to us for the downfall of n.irl soccer. i note that despite the endless hours of phone-ins the beeb have never interviewed anyone from the ulster council to air our views!! Anyway, long story short... is a phrase whose origins are complicated and rambling.
