Blueforever

Fair play to Courtwood great result Portlaoise gaa are a disgrace a town with over 25 thousand people a s**** hurling team and a white football team no wonder Laois gaa is in crisis

oneshot

bit unfair there about portlaoise carried laois for years in football and hurling. plus as a club have won i think 7 leinster titles and won club all ireland. how many have stradbally port got none. yes laois are s....as you say thats because portlaoise aren't at the top to carried them anymore.

Junior Ex Laoistalk

For a club as clever as Portlaoise I was shocked when they brought in Turlough O'Brien as manager. He's the biggest bluffer around as a manager. When he was with Carlow he was carried by Stephan Poacher and would have achieved nothing without him.
He's expert at talking himself up but does nothing for the teams moral and he's very poor tactically. Got hammered with Eire Og last year and the same with Portlaoise this year and had very good players at his disposal both years.
There are some great men in that Portlaoise club and it's disgusting to overlook some of those for this bluffer..
Winners are not those who never fail, but those who never quit!

Why did Aidan Fennelly leave?
The real glory is being knocked to your knees and then coming back. That's real glory. VinceLombardi

My understanding is that it wasn't his choice and that the club didn't want him to stay on. Poor looking decision in hindsight.

Laois Rising

Kilminchy alone has probably a population 4 times the size of Arles where two GAA clubs exist.

A second GAA club would make a massive difference but it is never going to happen. A great example of what could be achieved is Na Gael in Kerry. Set up by the residences association in North Tralee in the late 70s to provide an outlet for their kids growing up in that part of Tralee to play GAA they now are one of the strongest clubs in Kerry with a number of players on the Kerry senior team. So much of Portlaoise is a GAA wasteland with huge untapped potential.

They're bargain basement stuff these days. The lack of investment in Portlaoise is the legacy of this CB. Coincidentally the Laois team is at its lowest possible ebb.

The standard across all grades pathetic at the weekend. Mitigation perhaps because of the weather. There is no mitigation however for the standard of defending. I don't believe it could be any worse
