Is Benny as hilarious as Paddy Heaney in the Newsletter? Which is also only visible offline only.

Take Your Points

The size of the picture with Benny's column increased over time and with the influx of new 'talent' to the sports journalist team, as well as the more sport focused writing of the other ex-county players, it was his time to go.

The shelf life of an ex-player columnist is about a year. After that it's just the same stuff.

They should only write when they have something interesting to say. Having a weekly deadline means a serious amount of last minute fillers about stuff they don't really care about.

In the weeks when they've nothing to say, have a good lukin blade shovelling or something.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Handy money for writing mostly drivel.

He was a complete expert in stating the bleeding obvious.

But with players and management providing no titbits to the media these days, there are very little news to report on, other than what you see on matchday. There's only so much someone can speculate on. The game has changed, and so has everything surrounding it. And it's not for the better either.

I always enjoyed Benny's columns, particularly when providing stories from his playing days with Armagh, and of course when speaking of 'er indoors.

I thought the er indoors bit was cringe and done to death tbh

Forced comedy for the most part Benny
"Cheeky Charlie McKenna..."

Jim Bob

He got alot of the GAA gala nights out of it.

Logie had the run of them before him.

When kids ask what happened in 2002 you could always use a benny article to explain as best ye could. Now it's going to be more difficult.
