Two former nuns, who fell in love while working at a rehabilitation centre treating drug addicts, we're joined in Civil Union in the small town of Pinarello, Italy yesterday. The women, identified in the Italian press by their first names, have renounced being nuns.

Were they also in the Mafia? I think I've seen a film about them, called something like "Naked Nuns with Guns"

A Rubicon has been crossed. Not sure if Fearon will recover from this body blow.

It was the 2 Nuns & the Italian factor that caught my attention.

Tony Baloney

I'm sure Tony will be in Rome soon to discuss directly with the Vatican hierarchy.

Best of luck to then both, I hope their union is second to nun.

Seriously though, I hope they are happy and good luck to them.

Tony in no rush to reply. I suppose the mere fact that 2 former nuns have hooked up isn't really a problem for him. They fact that they had a civil partnership rather than a marriage was no doubt a source of great solace to him. But now they have upgraded to marriage it might be a problem. Tony's big problem is probably that nobody really seams to care that that this has happened, that they pair can retain their faith (if not their job) and see no issue in this and that the majority of people including the religious stock of Italy are not too excited bu the whole thing. The sheer normality of the whole thing is what will bug the bigot

T Fearon

In this sentence the word "former" is the operative. In a way they are to be admired. They left the church first and didnt laughingly try to be nuns and practising lesbians simultaneously. That is called having decency and respect.

They didn't want to stay in the church?

Are the only people in the church those in holy orders?

Are catholics in Italy up in arms about this or quite relaxed?
