The Donnellan/Joyce debate mirrors that in many teams and sports. Essentially it's the contrast between audacious talent seen regularly over a short career and  consistent high  performance during a long career. As a Mayoman I would gladly have taken either of them. Joyce on form was a constant worry but Donnellan on fire was sudden terror. Neither was good for blood pressure.

Joyce was the better of the two in my opinion - dug us out of a lot of holes and was the go to man when we badly needed a score on many occasions. Two great players and it was a dream to have them around the same time with many other talented footballers.  Good and all as they were, missing Ja and Mannion plus an injured KW was crucial in the end in 2000.
