The western world powers will not let the middle east ever stabilize again. They cant let it become like Russia and call the shots on its resources

When was it ever 'stable'?

The long-awaited official inquiry report into Britain's bitterly contested invasion of Iraq will finally be published today amid calls for former prime minister Tony Blair to be held to account for taking the country to war.

Thirteen years after British troops crossed into Iraq and seven years after the inquiry began work, John Chilcot will deliver his verdict on the UK's most controversial military engagement of the post war era.

He will issue a statement at 11am after which the full report will become available online.

But Tony didn't make a unilateral decision to take the UK into war, the British Parliament did and its they that should be held to account!

They did it under the guise of this false intelligence they were given, I can see the then head of MI5 getting roasted in the report as well.

I think what will be interesting is if the report states they believe Bush and Blair decided on the war at Bush's ranch prior to any evidence for the war.

A bit like the misinformation on the Brexit debate, MP's aren't stupid, everyone knew Saddam didn't have WMD's, Hans Blixx had been saying as much for months, it was to maintain the "special relationship" with the blood lusters in the US war machine.
It wasn't Tony's son being sent off to war or indeed any other MP's son to get blown to bits.

I don't think he'll be done either, like you said it would mean Bush getting the same treatment.Thats not to say he shouldn't be though.Saying he went off intelligence in my opinion isn't good enough. How can there be intelligence on weapons of mass destruction/chemical weapons if they didn't exist? If you are going to go to war surely it isn't too much to ask for concrete proof.not 'we think they might exist',but 'here look george/tony,there they are there in that bunker'.He was the leader aswell, the buck has to stop with him.

All ex leaders do these talks and make money off the back of their legacy... nothing new. Britain was going to war regardless of who was PM 9/11 made that happen that wee bit easier

The Middle east is a proper fcuk up to fix... has been for centuries

What would be the long term solution to it? be interesting to hear that rather than the usual blaming this and offering no solutions
A redrawing of the borders across Iraq & Syria broadly along sectarian lines? Multiple Emirates tied economically through OPEC?

Absolutely, although I'd say the Iraq war was a success in that it is doing what it was created to do, destabilize the any structure in the Middle East and let it infect any other stable nations in proximity (Libya and Syria).
