Why is Tommy Walsh not in the Kerry team? I thought there was still signs of football life in the big fellah in the game v Dublin. Did the Rossies shatter his confidence?

Kerry to trip up over their assumed superiority ahead of the likes of Monaghan, probably think we are a one horse team with plodders filling out the rest of the team, compared to their pure bred natural artistes.

Vinny and K Hughes in for McAnespie and McKenna. Good changes, we'll need their strength and experience today.

Dick on the bench too.

Main Street

We are fully armed and with Dick to come on in the 2nd half and mop up.

6 pts a piece at half time. Sounds like Kerry were denied a clear penalty.

The most obvious black card I've seen was the pulling down by the jersey, from behind of Darren O'Sullivan who was running at goal, and Coldrick doesn't give it.

What is the point?

Just shows what we all knew. Monaghan a one trick pony. Completely clueless

Monaghan have just given the worst ever 2nd half performance and  against a muck Kerry team.
Plaudits though to Donaghy who manages to play a bit of football, score a few fine points, foul at will and be the ref's assistant on the pitch

Maguire01

Very poor performance. No midfield shows again, and having to work the ball all the way up the field from a short kick-out just won't work against the better teams. And that's before you even mention what happens when the short kick-out goes horribly wrong.

Even a win against Donegal might not be enough. The points dropped against Dublin and Mayo...

Monaghan and Mayo both need help under the scoring forward scheme.

Can't even argue with that!

Talks a good game

Murphy dragged down by the Monaghan goal keeper when straight through on goal today.
Just waiting for the righteous indignation from the Monaghan fans about one of their own.

I have texted Joe Brolly to see if he considers Beegan  less of a man also because of this  ::)

I have a feeling that the days of the Donegal/Monaghan stranglehold over the Ulster title are coming to an end.

While that may be correct, it hasn't stopped us having moderate success over the last few years. Today was an awful performance across the board though, not just in terms of scoring options up front. We were definitely clueless though, no arguing with that.

After a promising start to the league we've really messed things up since. If only we had closed out one of the games against Dublin or Mayo. And the capitulations against Cork and Kerry leaves our chances of staying up even slimmer with the scoring differences the way they are. It's a pity as we looked in good shape after two games and were attacking in a more effective way too. But lately we've reverted to past form and often resorted to lumping the ball into a lone man surrounded by defenders.

Poor second half yesterday. Bar a few nice points we were second best all over the field. Some costly errors at the back and some bad handling didn't help either. Donaghy given acres of space to operate in and he punished us for that. Even managed to catch ball round the middle with one hand.

We looked like a div 2 team in the last few matches. But we have one more chance to correct this and normally against Donegal playing a system of none up front can work. But it was maddening yesterday seeing not only a one man ff line but one man in our half winning a ball and having absolutely no option to pass or shoot.

Keeping all these men back isn't keeping the scores down either. We are leaky this year.

The 2nd relegation spot is between Monaghan and Cork.

If Donegal win, Monaghan go down with Down
The only (realistic) scenario for Monaghan to survive is if they beat Donegal and Kerry beat Cork.
Cork have more options to survive and should be favourites, there's a decent chance for Monaghan.

But that chance is a diminishing factor considering how awful we were in that 2nd half.
