The 'Kingdom' 2014-15: the fairytale that refuses to end!

The 'Kingdom', 2014. Exceptional All-Ireland champions: never before had such a modestly gifted panel won an All-Ireland title. Yes, they stumbled laughably, but they made it. Not without Cormac Reilly, not without a pathetically short sighted Donegal gameplan, not without flaw. But the imperfection of the fairytale, ironically, marked it out as perfect.

Most of us presumed that normality would be restored in 2015, but the rustbucket trundles on! Tipperary broke down with the achievable coming into view, Cork were pickpocketed by Hughes, Tyrone made the wrong decisions at crucial times. And here the 'Kingdom' are, waiting for one of the two best teams in the country in the final! Just when you thought the fairytale would end with the rabbit consumed by a veritable lion, the corpse is shat out and lives to fight on; Cormac Reilly will be named as referee for the final!

I'll add my own tuppence worth. To be fair, I didn't give Kerry a chance when last year started. I thought Donegal would have a plan to deal with Donaghy.

However, a bad Kerry team winning the All Ireland can only get better - with the medals etc. I said this to someone that they would probably win it again this year the day after the final last year. Given the fact they got away with it in the Munster final, I'm sticking to my guns. I hope they are beaten next time out, even if it is the Dubs they'll be playing.

And they will win it next year too. Fitzmaurice is a genius.

With so much amiguity in the rules in the modern game, the person with the single biggest influence on the result of a gaelic football match is now the referee, very similar to rugby. Witness last Sundays first semi final where many of us can't agree on decisions even when slowed down and having watched them countless times. If Kerry keep on getting major match turning decisions then they will be hard stopped. The old established order tend to get these decisions more than other counties and Kerry in particular have benefitted in a big way on the road to 2 in a row.

If its a 50/50 decision that's required Kerry will always get it. It's ingrained in all the ref's head's and must be a historic thing.

In fact on Sunday it took Maurice a few minutes and a quick consultation and some more humming and hawing to issue O'Shea a black card.

This was a decision that should have been made instantaneously but the fact that it was Kerry he had a brain freeze for a minute and eventually issued the card.
They get momentum, they go mad, here they go
