Jimmy's not grinning at mismatches

Surely Jim Mc Guinness has a point. The sight of Fermanagh players effectively going on a bizarre lap of honour hugging family and friends after being well beaten in an All Ireland Quarter Final was cringeworthy.

From the Bunker

Seem to remember Jimmy  doing the exact same thing in 2011 after losing to Dublin.  Running around the pitch hugging and congratulating players after a loss.

Entirely different context. That was a mere 14 months after an embarrassing qualifier defeat to Armagh, and a manager rightfully celebrating a hugely successful first season in which his team won the Ulster Championship and (unlike Fermanagh) genuinely pushed Dublin all the way in the AI semi final.

I know you like winding things up Tony ;)
But have you a solution?
Or any thoughts on restructuring Championships etc

It's all relative.

Would you wind your neck in big lad... The Fermanagh players/supporters were jubilant because they: a) got to HQ after 11 years, b) were after a great run in the qualifiers and c) were promoted to division 2.

Not a bad year at all..

Have a look at where your own county are before jumping on a bandwagon that is trite and has already left... ::)

Tony, as usual, has arrived at the discussion on the wrong weekend.

Also there is at least one thread where this was already discussed.

If it's ok for all counties to play in a senior football championship why doesn't the same rationale apply in hurling?

It was particularly cringeworthy Fermanagh's scenario last week, easily beaten by a Dublin team that didn't need to get out of first gear and gifted a couple of goals by the referee and their opponents and this is something to celebrate and enjoy?

StGallsGAA

A GAA county the size of Fermanagh even getting to Croker is quite an achievement so the players can choose to acknowledge the fans howsoever they like.    Perhaps Tony is attempting to deflect from the abject failure of his own county this year,  to add to the other half dozen or more years of failure recently?

T Fearon

Er we won a trophy in Croke Park in April, and beat Meath in the championship there last year and only lost the quarter final there last year by a point

So you consider promotion from division 3 as a significant measure of success?.  Do you work in the civil service by any chance??

I think he is a lot more detached from the real world than that!
