I though I would hate him but I actually like Parkinson. He s got great enthusiasm and find him honest and doesn t take himself too seriously.

Croí na hÉireann

If everything about Parkinson didn't come back to himself he'd be worth listening to.

If Roy Curtis thinks Parkinson and Gilroy are idiots then the opposite is true,  scientific fact!!

From the Bunker

Parkinson is an enjoyable idiot!
Curtis (from what I remember) can write an article on any sport (Hurling, Soccer, Football, Boxing) and write it consistently bad!

Syferus

He's a mother-fūcking genius. Sprays rough indeed, Roy.

The Aristocrat

Is fear of being lambasted by the Kerry propagandists in the media forcing officiating errors?

They have certainly got away with a lot over the years, with a bit of luck, including Sunday.

Hot on the heels of O'Sé's article in the Irish Times, where he made the earth shattering observation that opponents might have a go at getting under Diarmuid Connolly's skin, Roy Curtis pens the following article.

http://www.independent.ie/sport/gaelic-games/gaelic-football/roy-curtis-darragh-s-reveals-the-sleeveen-culture-of-modern-gaelic-football-31341616.html

As an exercise in po faced, holier than thou, hand wringing, his is about as bad as it gets.

You would swear that it never occured to any defender in the history of sport to try & gain a psychological advantage over  a forward by "pulling his tail a bit". All the top players in team sports have to learn to rise above it & to Diarmuid's credit he has learned to do just that.

I'm sure he must be scratching his head, as I am, wondering what stone Roy Curtis has been living under these past years or is it, as I suspect, just a lazy piece of writing trying to get a reaction.

This sort of negative, overblown crap does more damage to the GAA than any few well chosen words in a forwards's ear.

A superb article to counter Darragh and his cute hoorism. Nice for Dublin to stick the knife into the Kerry gaa biased media. Kerry have a monopoly on the GAA to promote their own agenda. Which currently is Dublin

Name one other county that has the above monopoly in the press? Stephen Rae the Sunday I do editor is also a Kerry man. Gerry o regan the previous indo editor was also a kerryman

That was a scandalous article by O se who was a right pup on a GAA field himself. Nice to see Dublin giving the two fingers to it.

Hanlon's razor.

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

A lot of people seem to think GAA refs have an agenda (favouring the big teams, big names etc, playing for the draw) when in the vast majority of cases it's down to simply getting the call wrong.

You do have to wonder if the GAA should force/invite more pundits and media commentators to referee a few games and record the game, and point out what they got wrong just to show how hard it is to get all the decisions right/not miss anything, especially in terms of the speed at which an intercounty game moves.
