From play I think hes been a peripheral figure in armagh intercounty panels yet stayed on the field for 6 years but that dosent take away from the fact that he won so many medals with his county and his coolness under pressure from frees was as good as any freetaker ever.  In this respect he was as important to Armagh as Steve Mc or Ronan Clarke.  His play on the field for Cross to me sets him apart as probably the greatest achieving club footballer I have ever seen.  Now is not the time to compare retired players either but any football observer would suggest his skill repertoire were of a different nature to Peter Canavan and both achieved excellence before they quit.

i think it will be over the next few years before we appreciate what osin did for armagh and cross,it cost us this year when we hadnt a consistent free taker from the left, stevie missed to many which at that level armagh are at you need consistency and thats what osin provided. He will go down as one of armaghs greatest, and rightly deserved but personally i think he shouldn't have commented on management, should have said nought and left with his head high and a great collection of medals, for me he contributed to the best days i've had as an armagh supporter and im sure we havnt heard the end of him with cross.

I was in his pub in Cross a few weeks ago but he wasn't there, wouldn't mind meeting the man (to ask him for the medal that he stole off us  ;) )

Enjoy the retirement... Armagh could have done with him last Weekend.

That's his brother Jim's pub. He has in leased out and runs Blayney Bowl in Castleblayney with his brother in law, Monaghan corner back Dermot McArdle. Oisin works at Drywalling.

As an armagh man, he was the player that other teams used to always have, who had that knack of getting the vital score at the vital time and was worth his weight in gold. as a dromintee man, he was a hewer!  :P

Legend of the game for armagh people.

Oisin was the type of player that a winning team needs, cool under pressure and willing to take responsibility when things are going badly as well as when the team is doing well. His loyalty to Cross and Armagh when both were successful has meant that he has put in a tremendous amount. His injury meant that he was often in pain in recent years, making his continued contribution all the more creditable. Had he been in full health he could have made the difference to get Armagh multiple All Irelands any of the newer players would do well to even approach his contribution

Osin gave a great talk at IT Sligo at lunch today, focusing on his gambling addiction and his battles with depression because of it. Very heart-felt stuff and that he continues to use his own story to promote awareness of these issues. Classy stuff from a classy man.

Yes Oisín visited our club back in the spring for a Q&A night and I was very impressed with what he had to say on a range of subjects included that one of course. A very down to earth sound lad.
